  • Weird question - Crown Guard Lever

Got a funny question to which I can't find any conclusive answer. Just added a 320 to my watch box and just wanted to hear from other pam owners...Do you push the crown in using thumb and finger or press it in using the crown guard lever? It seems easier and more precise to push it in by using the crown guard lever on my piece while using thumb and finger always make me feel I am applying uneven pressure.

Congrats on the addition. One of the most simplest Gmt Pams.

The creation of the crown guard is not only to protect the crown but to make time setting and synchronizing easier and faster for divers.

Just pull out lever, pull out crown, set time, wham! Push the crown back in together with the lever.

But like what you said, there is no conclusive answer from owners which is the right way to do it. Some uses the lever to push in back the crown and some uses the "old traditional" method we all are so familiar with, index finger and thumb.

Myself, the "old traditional" index finger and thumb.

usually i will push in using my fingers...
just my habit cuz that's what we do with other watches....
as long as the crown can go in...it's correct...

In my case because of the crown guard I can't get even pressure on the crown so sometimes I feel like I am using excessive force to push it in.

It's designed to be push in with the crown guard.

in combat, the watch were winded with the crown guard closed to prevent water seepage. Will increase wear on the parts.

Use fingers on top and bottom edge. Using the lever can place undue pressure on the winding stem.

I used to push the crown in with my thumb and index finger but more often than not, the minute hand moves by a bit and it irks me to no end! So now I use the lever to push the crown in once I have set the time properly.

I use my thumb and pinky to delicately apply equal pressure on both the top and bottom side of the crown, ensuring that at all time the other 3 fingers do not touch the crown in case pressure on the crown becomes uneven and the crown goes out of alignment as it gets pushed in thus screwing up the entire winding mechanism... Lol

Jokes aside, I just use the lever lah

I can totally identify with that! :-D
Always happens when I rotate my watches and need to adjust the time coz its dead. First need to wait till the second hand reaches 12, then pull out the crown to adjust the time correct to the minute (I am that anal). Then push in the crown and the minute hand moves a bit...shucks!

With my Pam320, thanks to the hacking function, just pull out the crown and the second hand jumps to 0. And after setting the time, "wham" I push in the crown guard lever. Done!
