Proportionally to average ladies the size will be out, then again its up to individual, if she can carried it off, y not? Just like dssd, Charlize Theron carried it well but she is not average size.

It depends on two main things:

        1. the wrist size of the lady; and
        2. watch design.

As much as we think ladies have smaller/slimmer wrists than men, I often see the opposite. Or at least, some have similar wrist sizes as men. So it is not easy to determine if a lady can actually carry a 47mm sized watch.

The watch case design will also be a significant determinant. There are some large cased watches that are designed in such a way that those with smaller wrists can carry them well.

With a 6.5" wrist, I personally have tried and decided that I could not pull a 47mm off (although that made the salesman very sad). For ladies though, it is an accessory and sometimes the laws of physics and sense do not apply my 2 cents, buy whatever makes her happy. You'll end up being happier too.

For a lady, it really depends if she can pull it off.

For example, my wife is 1.7m tall, weighs 50kg and has a 5.5" wrist and she wears her 44mm Pam regularly. Sometimes for the fun of it, she takes my 47mm Sub to wear and she has had compliments by strangers.

My advice is that she can go try it at the boutique and if she feels comfortable wearing such a big watch on her. If she is okay with it, then why not!

Wear it with confidence and the watch WILL suit her!

Putting looks aside, wouldn't it be uncomfortable if the watch lugs overhangs from the wrist?

I guess wearing an oversized watch (ie: 44-47mm) is akin to wearing a chunky bracelet!

Doesn't really matter if the lugs overhang the wrist, if the girl doesn't mind and can carry it off.

Anyhow, we are thinking about it from a guy's point of view... Remember "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus" quote?
