    Hi all,

Which panerai model should one start with?
    Ex: rolex will be submariner.
    Thks

bro the entry luminor models are pam00 or pam05. pam111 and 112 are popular too. or pam380 radiomir if you prefer dressier look
if you prefer inhouse movement and have $$$ go for the pam312 and the radiomir equivalent would be pam388
entry sub will be the pam24.
if you can take 47mm go for the pam372 luminor or pam305 sub
really, there are many choices depending on your preferences and budget. there are also smaller 40mm and 42mm models if you prefer. google for panerai source or paneristi for more information. you also need to determine if u prefer manual or automatic winding models. good hunting.

My 1st Pam watch is Pam 510. I was shown so many designs and 510 just stood out from the rest because it has a clean face. I really enjoy the 8 day power reserve because I only need to wind the watch once a week. After nearly 2 months, the time is still accurate. Currently, thinking of a Radiomir.

            Congrats on a beautiful Pam!

As for the question of what Pam to start with, my answer will be "whatever takes your fancy!" I would do a bit of research to see what Pam casing that I would look at first, a Radiomir/Luminor or Luminor 1950/Submersible. From there, you can decide painted or sandwich dial, and the list goes on and on till you arrive at one that you really like.

That will be your FIRST Pam! Not going to be your last though. Haha!

            Cheers!

Try to give the base models a look for starters (OOO, 112, 176). Personally, I love the 176 as a first PAM. Titanium, sandwiched dial. If you have extra budget then look for a 390 - its an SE of 2000 pieces and the prices are not unreasonable.

Certain LE and se holds value, some even appreciate. Not all though. Gotta pick e right one.

Oneself, only u can decide which one to get cos you're the one wearing the watch not others. Go try them, short list and narrow down to the one u want.

The 510 is good value at less than 1k above the 111, which it is rumored to be replacing eventually. Do try them on as each case is different from one another. You have to be comfortable with the different sizes.

Ideally I would also advise you to start with the base - 000, 005, 111 etc but these are hard to come by, especially if getting bnib. And for watches running on generic Unitas 6497, they are not cheap. Thus, the 510 would seem like a good buy in comparison.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!

First of all , Ithink the fundemental is whether you are goign for a auto or manual wind. The base models are all manual wind but if you are after a auto you should be looking at the PAM 312. It has a sandwich dial, inhouse movment and 1950's caseing.
All the goodies from a pam

Thanks! I was considering getting a Rolex Green Face Submariner or GMT Blue-Black in Switzerland. But the Pam really caught my heart. The charming boutique lady manager in Lucerne Pam Boutique definitely plays a part too.

                      510 or 312.

Pay a bit more than the base models for in-house engine, why not?

Factors include auto VS manual, date VS no date, 1950 case vs Luminor case, polished case VS brushed case.

You pick what you fancy between these 2. Probably won't go wrong.

depend on your budget and taste, but my suggest same like watchristi said.. u can start with base model, this is very popular, so if u feel not really like, aftersales price are very good and also very good demand, u can sell it with very easy. i also start like taht, pam 000, 005, 111, 177 or 112 and if u want with date, 312 or 104.. happy hunting

I don't have a 312 or 111. But I have a 510 and a 320. Between, my preferred one will be the 510. Not that it's new but it's a bit like a Porsche 911. Same old chassis but better engine. And just to add on, my other Pam is a 422. And between, the two. I still prefer the 2 manual winding pieces than the 320.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!
