Why not? But I just prefer the aftermarket straps because I can customise it to my exact specs, in terms of colour, length, holes, keepers, stitching, buckles, etc! And all this at a cheaper price than the OEM straps!

Not me. IMHO, Keeping the strap unworn will make your package more attractive if u wanna sell it in the future...

Anyway the normal calf leather is only $320. Which is a small fraction compared to the price of the watch.

It's one of the factors but certainly not the key factor.

If I really like the oem strap then I'll just wear it . Don't need to worry about subsequent resale....life is too short to fret over stuff like that

OEM straps are quite limited, aftermarket straps have more choices in terms of leather and colour.
If you want changes and more fun, certainly will go for aftermarket straps.

I think $320 for OEM calf straps is quite standard. I wanted the monte carlo strap to go with my 00441 and requested for the shorter version. ION told me it had to be made specially for me and its $420. Takes 4 to 6 weeks. I went for JnS strap instead.

Wouldn't wear it either. Aftermarket has nicer and cheaper straps without compromising quality.

Depends on the model the straps came with. For example PAM372. The OEM straps supplied looks so ugly. Any S$150 aftermarket straps looks better.
