  • any opinion on omega seamaster professional quartz

    hi all,

tinking of buying a omega seamaster professional quartz 2221.80.00.
as my budget is not much and i tink a quartz watch is more accurate.

It's a very well made watch. Good for daily beater.

      Prefer automatic
It's nice to know you are wearing something mechanical and uses energy from a self winding spring, which is then released in a regulated manner to the intricate parts through the gear train and escapement, which all work in harmony for one common goal, ie to measure time accurately
well, ie if you consider cosc +6/-4 seconds per day as 'accurate'

that being said, i would choose an automatic seamaster professional over the quartz version
      eg 2531.80
the price different is not that much for a preown piece, probably in the range $500 to $1k

        auto or quartz

i hv both. the autos hv a 'connection' when u wear them cos it winds up. the quartz is detached-no feeling! . but objectively, autos are expensive to service abt $400 upwards at agents. quartz change battery every few yrs at a gd watch tech abt $20 to $50/=.
autos are not as rugged as quartz and if your movt is off by say five secs a day ,in one wk, you are off by more then half a min. autos are easy to resell later tho!

omega seamaster, along with the likes of breitling superocean, used to be serious contenders to rival the rolex submariner
however, the race is irrelevant now
the two are now in a lower tier than rolex

nonetheless, in the mid tier, omega and breitling are still my fav

Hi Joosk, did you manage to get it new? I understand that it's already a discontinued model long ago. Cheers!

I have the exact same model. This is the only quartz watch I have and rest being hand-wind or automatics. I love it for what it is, this is my go to watch and needs no input from me when I want to wear it. I feel it is one quartz that even auto lovers should have.
