...announced by Omega few days ago.
Some quotes from the media announcement...
"...resistant to magnetic fields greater than 1.5 tesla (15,000 gauss), far exceeding the levels of magnetic resistance achieved by any previous watch and solving a problem that has challenged watchmakers for centuries."
"Unlike other efforts to combat the effects of magnetism, the OMEGA movement does not rely on a protective container inside the watchcase but on the use of selected non-ferrous materials in the movement itself. Several patents are pending for the new movement."
"OMEGA expects to present the technology at the Baselworld trade fair in April. The new movement, the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 8508, should be introduced to the market in 2013."

The effort to come out with a new movement with new material/technology is what I consider innovative and is applaudable. However I feel more could be done to the look rather than just using the Aqua Terra platform. The yellow dotted hand and yellow font are nice touches though not enough to be considered a wow factor in my opinion. Nothing has been mentioned about the dotted hand so I assume it is just an attention seeking second hand.
Depending on the price point, it could be a worthwhile challenger to Rolex's Milgauss (the non-GV version).
