    Vintage Omega Lovers?

    Hi there,

Any vintage omega lovers out there? Got my Seamaster 300 and started my search for a 321 speedmaster to complete the pair.

Seamaster is cool too. If i can find a brand new 007 Seamaster, I think I will get it too.

    Cheers!

its a nice watch, but being an everyday watch makes it susceptible to scratches. do u guys ever send your watches for polishing?

Thx! Yes for my wife in pointing out the watch and financing it too, haha. nevertheless, I will still continue to search for a Rolex and I think it will be enough for me. See, my plan is to have 2 nice watches so that i can pass it on to my boys next time. So I guess 1 will be this omega, and the other one will be a rolex. Unfortunately i can't afford a patek, the tag line suitably defines my thought.

i think self-winding allows the wearer to turn the crown to wind the watch up. On the moon, there is low gravity, so I guess the automatic winding (by wrist movement) does not work that well.

Like you, I initially was searching for the 007 Seamaster (as well as an Explorer II) and never really considered a Speedmaster until last Sunday. As I was going through the exhibition, I start falling in love with the history of the Speedmaster and particularily like those Space missions Speedmasters with special dials on 1 of the Choro face. But those were not for sale and apparently came from Omega Museum. And then my wife saw the Moon to Mars and she told me hey, why not consider this......

Honestly when I first saw it, I thot it looks a bit `swatchish' (and i still think so), then I thot the premium of $1k over a generic Speedmaster is a bit too much to pay. So I spend a bit more time sitting on the couch watching the Speedmaster History video, understanding further why there isnt a self-winding version and using hexalite crystal instead of saphpire just so that its like the original moon-watch and finally decided, ok, I'm sold!

Yeah, there are extras but not valuable stuff. They gave the `astronuat' frozen ice cream (but its given at the entrance, dun have to buy any watch), the catalogue, a Speedmaster history book and of coz the pin badges. All in i paid $5150.

nice speedmaster u have. I still prefer seasmaster. Was there yesterday, but only carry 3 seasmaster (latest model). So too bad.
