  • Is it true that you can wind a automatic watch during certain hours?

    Hi Guys/Girls,

First time getting an Omega Seamaster and was told by the AD that it shouldn't be manually winded between 9pm to 3am in the as this may damage the mechanism. Is this true???

yeah, I also never heard of any restrictions on when to manually wind a watch. Change date I can understand.

Hope to be enlightened....got limited knowledge :P

You can still wind up an automatic movement watch. Or shake it a little as you like.

winding is more effective to charge up the power reserve. not sure how many shakes are need to fully charge up the watch.

as for winding the automatic movement, you can do it anytime.

for date change, i normally adjust the time to 5.25 (both hour n minute hand at the 5 o'clock mark) and then engage the date change mechanism.

I recalled reading a particular forum that say changing date during certain timing would cause damage to the mechanism.

Take good care of the watch as its cost a bomb to buy a good watch
