Omega Lady Speedmaster Power Reserve

Just got an pre own lady speedmaster for my wife.

The power reserve is very short, wear for about 10 hours, only can last 12 hours.

Is it normal?

when fully wound, it should be about 40 hours. best to send it in for servicing but it will probably take about 2 months. not sure about the cost - the last time i serviced my chrono in 08, it was about $500+. understand it is now $700+.

Before wearing an automatic watch that has completely stopped (i.e. zero power reserve) , it's always good to manual wind it for some 15 to 20 turns before wearing (that is, provided the watch has manual wind capability). Sometimes wearing an auto watch the whole day does not fully wind up the power reserve, if there is little hand movement involved in the activities during the day.

Service for an OMEGA Chrono now cost at least $880 above. Power reserve only last 12 hours probably not in good shape for the movement, definitely not normal if you have fully wind the watch. The service for this movement likely to be done locally at Swatch Group and should take no more than 10 weeks after sending in, especially non-peak (not during Xmas, NY or CNY etc). That's my experience so far for two watches.

There's a safety locking mechanism when the movement is fully wound, listen closely as you will get a "tiak, tiak, tiak" sound near after about 30-40 turns.

sent a watch to swatch for servicing on monday.
took a peek at the price list for omega chrono servicing. complete servicing for chronos with metal bracelet is $1,025 excluding GST wef 1 Jan 2012. but you get 2 year warranty thereafter.
