this is a common mindset for most people usually people will label 'Seiko' as poor man's watch or associate it with ah peks but once you start to explore deeper into the different series, you'll se the differences & will understand why a Seiko can cost up to 10k+ for a Ananta or even 20k+ onwards for a Credor
True, if we are talking about 'resale' value, Seiko does not hold that well as compared to other big Swiss names but in the end, it's more like paying for a piece of art or handicraft, engineered out by the Masters
