Seiko TUNA?

Hi guys, I am abit lost in the lingual between the Seiko watches.

I am keen in getting a Tuna, I liked the fact that it has a huge watch face and chunky. But having reading thru some of the threads, I am keeping confused.

There is so many versions such as Baby Tuna / Tuna/ Monster / Sumo. Which actually has a big watch face?

Also where can I get the view the watch locally either at a retailer or dealer? Price ranging from?

The monster and sumo is not from the tuna family.
Best place to view the tuna is at skywatches or big time.
Price starts from mid $1k for a quartz tuna. (baby tuna not factored in)

what you mentioned are 3 totally different seiko watch family model.

I'll started of with the sumo. The sumo is a JDM(Japan Domestic Model) prospex family lineup in seiko which is not available at most store in Singapore except for shops like superchronos @ Sim Lim Square, Big Times @ Sims Avenue & Sky Watches @ People's Park Complex or you can get it from the Big 3 Japan Online Shops like Seiya,Higuchi or Chino Watch but for this 3 overseas seller,you will need to factor in 7% GST as it's price is over SGD$400.

The Sumo comes in 3 model standard models and some Limited Edition models which i will not want to touch on.

The 3 models are : SBDC001 - Black dial black bezel with bracelet, SBDC003 - Blue dial blue bezel with bracelet & SBDC005 - Orange dial with black bezel with rubber strap.

Price for a new piece will range from around minimum SGD$650 to max SGD$900 depends on which seller you goes to.

Price for a pre-own piece from what i see at this forum range form Minimum SGD$400 to max SGD$750 depends on the condition and the completeness of the set.

Next i will talk about is the baby tuna which is in the seiko superior seiko family lineup.

This series has a total of 7 watch model, 3 are standard model and 4 are limited edition model.

For this series i will not want to talk about the price as the variants are too much and the prices differ alot for the 7 models which some shops sells thong sia agent set and some sell parallel import set between the J & K model. J model are made in japan for the japan market with kanji datewheel & K model are made in the rest of the world with various datewheel for different country.

The 7 model are : Standard Model - SRP231,SRP229,SRP 227. Limited Edition Model - SRP453,SRP233,SRP234,SRP236

The 3 standard model are easily available at most watch shop like city chain,vincent watch,all watches,bencoolen watch shop,chinatown watch shop and Bras Basah watch shop.

For the Limited edition model, be prepared to pay a slightly higher price than the standard model as it's limited in numbers.

Finally I'll go into the Real Seiko Tuna with is consider the real dive watch in the seiko prospex lineup with the rating from a minimum of 300m to the maximum of 1000m depth.

For the Seiko Tuna, i will not touched on the discon,vintage and limited edition model but will only touch on the standard current production model.

The current production model will be the quartz model SBBN015,SBBN017 and SBBN013 & the auto emperor tuna SBDX011 which is consider the true king tuna with 8L35 seiko movement and a rating of 1000m with the biggest and thicker case of all tunas.

TS only asking about sumo,baby tuna and tuna.

samurais i will not touch on it as it's discontinued and hard to find unless u pay a premium.

monsters i will consider writing it.

shoguns SBDC007 nothing to write about as it's similar to sumo spec but only in titanium case and bracelet.

dolphins is for the seiko limited edition white shroud tuna "white dolphin" SBBN019 limited to 300 pcs and blue shroud tuna "blue ocean" SBBN021 limited to 400 pcs. which spec are similar to SBBN013 just that it comes in white or blue shroud also with 1000m depth rating
