      Back to the JLC Watch:

Jaeger-LeCoultre has just revealed a new diving chronograph, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Chronograph. Unlike most chronographs, this one can be operated underwater. Breitling makes a magnetic quartz based chronograph that operates underwater, but as far as mechanical chronographs go, they typically do not work underwater.

The Deep Sea Chronograph is powered by a self-winding caliber JL 758 with 47 jewels, 340 parts, a frequency of 28,800 vph and a 65-hour power reserve. Functions include hours, minutes, small seconds, chronograph (hour and minute counters, central sweep seconds hand) and chronograph operating indicator. The case is stainless steel and measures 42 mm in diameter. Uni-directional rotating bezel. Sapphire crystal and matte dial with white Superluminova hour markers. Water-resistance 100 meters. Black leather with steel pin buckle.

The Deep Sea Chronograph meets the ISO 6425 standard for a dive watch. (Divers' watches must be water resistant to 330 ft minimum (100 meters). They must also feature a time controller and comply with standards provided by NIHS 92-11 (ISO 6425): luminosity, shock resistance, anti-magnetism, band solidity.)

I was quite excited when informed that its chronograph can be activated underwater, cos I always feel it is a shame that a diver's chronograph couldn't be activated in water. Another point to share, when activating the chronograph, do note the feel. Maybe, it is me, but I thought I could feel a seal of some sort compressing when I pressed the chrono pushers.

( Remember JLC is a Manufacture who has in past history and still does make some movement for AP and Patek )

                      Alternative

JLC made some of the world best watches. But (there is alway a big BUT...), if you are going for the old skool diver look, you should look at the Longines Legend Diver Automatic Model No. L3.674.4.56.0, this is one remake of the old skool look diver that would not burst your bank account.

i sincerely believe that all brands do have their pros & cons for sure BUT everyone has difference in terms of tastes, features, looks plus most important the cost above every aspect!
Nevertheless, Diver watches are most sort after in men timepieces so we shall share and discuss the love of it , cheers
