one of the best movement makers around esp the col wheel chronograph.
not popular in singapore, bad resale value. prob 40 to 50% off retail price for 1 yr old watch
Itchy for:
Pam 351
First Team Players:
Zenith Chronomaster power reserve
Bvlgari Octo
IWC 3777-01
Rollie 116610LN
Zenith is a very well respected brand in terms of movement (even older Daytona uses Zenith movements!)
However, it is not really appreciated in Singapore, even though it has a rich heritage, and that its watches are on par or even better with some watches in its price range. I would rate Zenith above brands like IWC, Chopard, etc, especially for its El Primero and Pilot range....
And when it is not appreciated, it's resale value would be pretty much, ugh, terrible....
"Oh enjoying the thrill of the chase is fine. Craving the distraction of the game, I sympathize entirely. But sentiment, sentiment is a chemical defect found in the losing side."
Zenith is not very popular and there are instances where the aftermarket support and services is not very good think a few forumers had complain here. But it is nonetheless one of the best chronograph movements makers

36,000 bph ! It is like having an athletics heartbeat.
The Daytona 4030 calibre used it ......El PRIMERO movement with a few parts removed to have a higher power reserved.
However the high wear & tear resulted in high servicing cost.
Very poor resale value locally, not popular as well ....personally I think they were at their peak when they produced the El PRIMERO Triple Calendar with moon face a few years back.
Lately, they tried very hard to move their design from dress to sport range but not my cup of tea.
Zenith got a good heritage and movement, they won numerous prizes in their work and they are quite bold in their design. I like their defy Xtreme category but it didn't do well in the past, i don't know why. But I think it is still worthwhile to own one of this great brand, I'm now looking at their new pilot watch with alarm, hopefully I can own one soon...

I'm not a doctor but an athlete's heart beat is slower than an average person's. An average person's normal BPM is supposed to be 72bpm, while an athlete's is supposed to be below 60. Think this is the incorrect analogy.
no offense just my 2 cents.
I think it referring to performance when mentioning bph though using heart rate is indeed off, unless tachycardia is consider good. Hahaha.
Anyway, the bph or frequency is not the necessary factor in determine watch performance. Now there a few 1hertz watches and all claim supreme accuracy. So who is right? It also depend on many other things like lubricant, wheel balance and etc. In fact, subjecting the mechanical watch to higher frequency/bph may require more visit to watch doc. It just like you driving yr car too much and you end up in workshop earlier and more. Just my 2dollar.
why is it that such good movement watches are not holding resale whereas rolex is...I just dont get it
Hi not sure what your trying to imply here... Rolex movements are good and proven as well.... there are other factors that
influence the holding value of the brands. Key things such as history, marketing, branding concepts.. but most importantly Rolexes
has established itself well in building its brand to all.. It is perhaps the most recognised brand amongst the other watch brands and hence this will translate to better demand...

I have a Captain Winsor (simply because I was attracted to its El Primero movement) and it is easily the most 'accurate' watch compared to say, the Submariner (not a poor performer in its own right) and the JLC (with the 977, another superb movement). But the resale value sucks...
There are a few brands that I tend to recommend others to buy new (no point getting pre-owned unless it is sold out or discontinuted). BALL and Zenith are 2 of them. Zenith Winsor is a steal for a dual complication of chronograph and annual calendar. Its Ultra Thin was very attractively priced too. So was its limited edition Elite New Vintage 1955 in 18k rose gold and a 22k gold rotor.
