  • Breguet Type XX / XXII

    Hey folks!

I have my eyes set on the Breguet Tyoe XX / XXII. Doesn't seemed like there's a lot of info on Breguet around here? I've read that they have a rich history in watch making and that had me thinking....... The Type XX / XXII looked like misfits in the family and I was wondering how these sit in with the rest of the Breguet collection. Anyone using them? Thanks!

This brand caters for younger people as well. The older people seems to like more of their classic design and the younger ones seem to like your mentioned type.

Thanks. I have reservations getting a watch which was created solely to capture a greater market share though. Am looking for a chrono and is considering the Breguet, Hublot and AP ROO. Personally, I find Hublot's marketing very aggressive with too many endorsements. Its seemed like they are forever looking for somebody famous to make a watch for and sell 200 pcs of it to the world. I find it hard to imagine that these will have any value at all. So its probably down to AP......

Type 22 has a very busy dial so not my cuppa tea. Actually, the level of work done on this watch is amazing. 6 different layers of dial, beautiful work done on the sides of the case and etc.

I just checked out the Type XX / XXII on their website. Most of them come with either a 39mm or 42mm case. I prefer a 44mm.

I managed to try out the type xxii 3880 44mm yesterday at Wisma. Its thick and hefty. Almost $26k after discount. Anyone wearing Breguet?

I do! Got my Breguet Type XX Aeronavale, its a smallish 39.5mm but the thickness of the case compensates for the lack of diameter and doesn't wear that small.
I wouldn't say that Breguet is trying to reach the mass market as they were originally conceived to be Pilot watches for the French Air-force, so they're not pulling off Hublot's brand growth strategy. Hublot needs it to justify a high price tag for a young brand, Breguet doesn't.

You don't think 39.5mm is too small for a chronograph?

It's true, not much info on Breguet locally. You'll have to google it and find in other forums overseas. There are more fans of Breguet overseas. Personally, I prefer the Marine or Classique series from Breguet.

Personally I think 40mm is the perfect size for a chronograph so 39.5mm is almost perfect =)

                        Thanks all!

I have decided to go with a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chrono. Price is "marginally" higher than the Breguet Type XXII.

I am wearing a Breguet XXI, I think the design is fantastic & honestly, I prefer the brand to keep a low profile & not have too many spokesperson. It keeps the product real & also I hate it when they keep issuing limited editions every year like AP & Pam. Nowadays it seems like most brands are spending their money on endorsement & not enough on R&D.
