  • QUARTZ watch - must swim: Seiko, Casio?

    hi,
I am buying a watch to go swimming at night, where my LCD driven casio has proven rather pointless (if I keep switching on the light, it will probably leak)...

So I'm in the market for an inexpensive dive watch that will actually go swimming .... something with a good lume that I can read at night.... nothing costing too much, but which will hold its own value in the longer term.

I would have thought of a Seiko SKX007, but I have decided to avoid mechanical ... preferring quartz, as I don't intend to wear the watch every day but about 3-4 times a week. ... so I don't want to keep sealing and unsealing the crown from the case to make adjustments.

    Any ideas, anyone?

Maybe about $200-300 . Both new or vintage considered... and Seiko would be my first preference as a matter of trust, though I have recommendations for a Casio Duro2000 diver too.

I've got two watches that I use regularly for swimming.

        1) Invicta pro-diver. Doesn't fit your criteria, as its automatic. But i put it on a NATO strap, great for swimming.

        2) Casio Pro-Trek. Great for night use, coz you don't have to press any buttons for the light to come on, just raise your hand to eye-level (more than 40 degree angle movement) and the light will automatically come on.

Tangs sells Luminox (4th level), I guess they must have local agent.

            luminox

prob crystal time, same pple as timex, btw, timex is cheep n good, lotsa models, ..-visit mustapha for parallel import seikos, orients n citizens and a general price guide for popular models, the big casios are also gd, get the solar powered ones, they hv the advantage of stop-watch, countdown timer, perpetual calendar n even a simple depth sensor on certain models. the stop watch thing is very useful when u are into serious training, swim, run or bike.
and the big 50mm face makes for easy reading!

I think few watch shops here carry this brand. Other than Tangs, I saw it at a watch shop in Bras Basah Complex (beside Cheers store); one at Peninsula Cplx/shopping centre (the one beside a hotel); and one at a basement shop in Lucky Plaza.
