On February 5, BALL Watch is paying tribute to its origins with the unveiling of its Trainmaster Secometer model onboard the mythical Orient Express.
The authentic British Pullman carriages, superbly restored, have retained their old-worldly charm and their art deco styling. It is this same design that has inspired the Trainmaster Secometer. It was only logical for the brand with its long-standing railroad heritage to bring together these two jewels of the Roaring Twenties.
Departing Victoria Station, London, the “palace on wheels”, as George Mortimer Pullman used to describe it, sped through the English countryside before returning to its departure point a little before midnight. Comfortably ensconced, the eighty guests enjoyed a succulent meal, admired the latest BALL creations, and were enthralled by the performances of the amazing magician Peter Mehtab and the sylph-like contortionist Delia.
“Our founder, Webb C. Ball, had not just set out on a quest for watchmaking precision and the establishment of a chronometric standard; he was also committed to ensuring US railroads ran to schedule. He would probably be flattered to know that 120 years later, we are driven by the same concerns. Proof of this lies in the names we give to the collections – Engineer, Trainmaster, Conductor and Fireman – and our desire to pay homage to the past by organizing evenings such as this, aboard this sublime example of railroading heritage,” explained the brand’s General Manager, Kevin Kouch.
This trip was also an opportunity to celebrate BALL Watch’s expansion with its arrival on the UK market. Present in four stores in 2007, the brand has extended its distribution network to more than 35 jewelers. These prestigious names and their expert teams are contributing to the renown of BALL watches throughout the country. They are also providing their customers with the possibility of “being on the BALL!”
