I did a comparison between my 3717 and the laco Kiel some time ago. I must say, for half the price of the 3717, the laco,Kiel is a pretty vfm piece.

I vote for Laco out of all the brands you listed. Or better yet save for an IWC top gun as previously mentioned! IMHO its the pilot watch to get!

You choices are pretty much limited to Steinhart non-chrono range and laccos using miyota engines. I'm assuming you are looking for brand new pieces.

Stowa Pilot watch seem to be stuck with only 40mm. When it comes to pilot, bigger is better =D. I personally prefer hand-wound.

Agree with Bro above Pilot Watches are historically big watches like 50 mm plus if I am not wrong. They have been down sized now as it is more of a accessory now. I would prepfer the steinharts with 47mm size. That said, Laco still make good pilt watches, after all they were one of the original 5 manufacutuers for the Luftwaffe .

55mm to be exact. The first of the many. Right now, most have been downsize to fulfill our everyday wear. Personally, I like steinharts 47mm but they don't have rich history like laco does. Although Laco doesn't make any 47mm but they do have 45mm. Which is good enough IMO. =D

Steinhart's 47mm case has relatively straight lugs that will look too huge on smaller wrists due to he overhang. I can't remember how's laco's but the laco Kiel (44mm)that I have has very nicely curved lugs that wrap around the wrist really well.

Depends on model - the Laco's ETA type A & B pilots have the straightest lugs that are true to its original design.

The choice between Laco and stein hart is tough, price wise too =).

Price-wise too? I thought laco is more ex. I just compared the prices on a local ad's website.
Apple to apple, laco more ex. But I also prefer laco's build quality and finish.
