The rate of discount MAY differ between a boutique and authorized dealer (AD). The former gives fixed discount; the latter probably more flexible.

Boutique will have a lesser discount but will give you some free stuff and straps....AD will give better discount... Best get from grey market if you done your research

buy what you really like and enjoy wearing
dont think about resale value - even rolex, if bought brand new from local AD, will have poor resale value
one way to minimise resale losses is of course to buy from oversea ADs as a tourist so that you could leverage on the government tax rebate (about 12-15% for some europe countries)

Never compare to Rolex on resale value, but iwc certain models are not bad

Not only iwc, most other high tier brands like breguet and blancpain suffer the same fate in terms of resale value
Rolex and panerai as well as AP and PP are exceptional

generally after five years I find most IWCs fall to 50 to 60% of their value of their list price at that time...

Personally i feel that the demand for iwc is high but value is the other way round... But im still going to get my second iwc soon coz i think most importantly is im going to wear what i like instead wearing some watch with high resale value but don suit me... Just my 2 cent opinion..

Exactly. It's like forcing yourself to buy a corolla (excellent resale value) but in your heart you really want a GTR.
