  • Is it worth to buy a discontinued model?

Hi, need some good advice here.
Was looking at buying a pair of MONTBLANC chrono watches, but i found out that it is going to be a discontinued model. Each will cost me abt $3,850 ($7,700 in total). List price listed is $4,400. Is it worth paying so much for a discontinued model?

Mont blanc won't hold value well at all, you'll only sell them at half the 4.4K in a year or two time.

I'd spend the 7.7K on second hand Rolex or New Rolex Explorer 1 with top up instead.

    ( The discount 4.4K down > 3.9K is nothing special either... )
    ROLEX.

If the movement is in-house calibre, maybe can try investing. But if the movement is as general as what you can find in other labels, such as Raymond Weil or low end IWC with ETA... then most likely the monies that you spend will just be on the brand only...

It really does not bother me whether the watch I'm buying is discontinued or will be discontinued. As long as I'm not paying premium for it, then it's ok. If you really like the watch, then why care if it's discontinued.

Looks almost the identical except mine is a white face with roman numerals and blue hands, with date between the 5 and 6 numerals position but no day like yours
You have the above shown in the pics? Don't see this model in their website.

Why not, if you could afford? For major luxury brands, they should readily have stocks for spare parts, so need not worry. Moreover, discontinued models may fetch a good price if it's well-maintained.
