  • The New Trinity

Guys i wonder....we always refer PP, AP and VC as the holy trinity...like the 7 wonders of the world...there's a new 7 wonders of the world, do you think there's a "new" trinity if you've your pick? if we see it from history + creativity + manufacture + innovativeness+ craftmanship perspective

i think i would pick the new 3s as:

    A.Lange
    FP Journe
RM/MBF. (doesn't have long history but produced very innovative timepieces)

    cheers

      ALS definitely!
IMO, I will go so far as to say that it belongs to the original trinity, replacing VC and joining AP and PP.

three times is enemy action and

        PP, AP, Lange.

There are many superb independents, but they are a different range.

I don't know why folks never thought of JLC.

for history, innovation and complication they have it all.

Here's one of the best complications from them.

While waiting for TS(mr james)to post his kids photos...
My take for Old Skool big three are PP, VC and JLC in term of history and innvation.
NKOTB big three are FM, Parmigiani and RD ( excluding small independent like MB&F, habring, urwerk...)

I think for a lot of people, ALS is much too young to be part of the "trinity" just yet. That, and the fact that it's not Swiss.

I should add that if we are limiting ourselves to the "new" trinity (and exclude the older houses like PP, VC, AP, JLC), then I would say FPJ and ALS are up there.

I don't know enough about MB&F (is research, design and manufacturing done mostly in-house or collaboratively with third party designers etc? Probably more complicated than that simple dichotomy, but I'don't know.)

I would like to add GO as well, but since it is effectively what the historical AL&S has become, it falls into the traditional houses category for me.

Yup Lange should be in the list, really admire how the family managed to restart, and innovate so quickly, after the berlin wall came down. but as watcha has said, so many new superb independents too, but need to see their lasting power, esp for companies relying on 'gimmicks' to sell their watches...
