Now, this' not a fair statement, ok. Why can't it be the other way round leh?
These are really nice but expensive watches. I can only 'like them' and hope to own them slowly, when I can afford them one at a time. But problem is, I can hardly save up fast & furious enough to own them together
Have not seen the 3777 in metal but I really like the 3717
I tried it on when it was launched at the local iwc boutique at mbs recently. I like it but financial controller will disown me if I even think of getting it.
The other iwc model which I thought is pretty popular is the port chrono (3707?). But I find it to be too dressy and not as versatile as the 3717.
The 3707 is part of the phased out GST series. The problem with the GST series is that the lugs won't fit the normal strap hence "less versatile". The case size is 40mm thus more dressy than sporty by today's standard. But overall I like the design of 3707 - very neat and legible chrono, just like the classic omega speedy moonwatch.

Actually the 3707 is not the predecessor of 3717. The 3706 is.
IMO from design point of view, the change from 3706 to 3717 is a breakthrough, the change from 3717 to 3777 isn't.
Sorry I wasn't sure about the red that's why u placed a "?" with it. I was referring to the port chrono 3714. That is a dressier but popular model too.
I beg to differ with you on te 3706. I reckon the change from 2706 to 3716 was not very interesting other than the upgrade in size. Much like moving from 16" to 17" rims. Car still looks pretty much the same. The transition from 3717 to 3777 is more like face lift at least upsized rim, changed aathetics. More changes at least.

Haha aparently we have quite different design sense To me these changes from 3706 to 3717 are major: change of design of hour/minute/second hands + red second hand + the white chrono rings in 3706 are gone in 3717, effectively change the look from a Mark XV type of chrono to B-Uhr type of chrono. And with the significantly larger case (>3mm), the 3717 looks and wears like a different watch.
And yes, 3717 to 3777 is what I would call a facelift

Actually, I think the transition from 3706 to 3717 to 3777 are like one facelift after another. The closest comparison I can think of is the Porsche 911. Still the same basic shape. Length sightly longer with each new model, add new spoilers, sat nav electric windows, dsg etc with the new models hahaha.
I believe it has been replaced by the 3777. 1mm bigger and 1k more ex!
However I still went ahead to get one. Haha.
Now looking for the top gun kevlar straps...
Got a qn, is 3717 no longer in production, still available brand new ?
It is just discontinued so there will still be overseas/local AD holding on to unsold pieces. there may still be people out there keeping them close to brand new....
