It is just my personal view, just feel in HK the brand is being put out everywhere. Yes this is advertisement, it works may work best in our part of the world, hence the watches are selling so well but somehow it cheapen the brand name. There is also no attempt educate the buyers on movement, case, etc, just banging on the brand name.
Again this is just my personal view and am sure many here will disagree...I didn't say I don't like Rolex watches and i do own a few....My Current

Whether which method of advertising/marketing a product/service is correct/wrong, it is unique and subjective to each company. There is no right/wrong; only successful or otherwise. Just look at some of the TV ads that we have. I'm sure there'll be some, even one or two, that you may find it 'stupid' or 'ridiculous'. But that may be what the company wants to achieve, ie for people to remember the products/services, and of course, buy them. So I don't think there's a "SOP" formula.

Almost every brand of every product cater for different marketing campaigns targetting different countries/customer segments. As a result, a brand might position itself with slightly different brand image in different countries to achieve one goal - sell the products. Hence the reason why Rolex market in HK the way it does is simply because - it works.
There are also different cases where a brand wants to maintain one consistent brand image through out the world, hence a global marketing campaign apply in that case. Even then, there ought to be some customization on the campaign/advertisment due to different culture etc. For example an TV or magazine ad with an famous caucasian artist may not appeal to some muslim countries or country where bollywood rulesWatches are like potato chips - You never stop at one

We all know what Rolex is about. IMO they are not on par with the PP/AP/VC and they never try to be, else they would have gone into watches with complications.

Rolex watches sell very well so I am sure their marketing is targeting the right segment. You cannot win them all so they decide to leave out some segments, some turn to PAM, some turn to AP. To me Omega has a classic marketing strategy. Rolex has achieved its goal, to sell their watches but the way they position their brand just doesn't sit well with me.My Current

My personal experience is that a person's taste changes according to age and life experience. So maybe when you are 40 or 50 you would appreciate Rolex and its kind of brand image, hahaha...Watches are like potato chips - You never stop at one
