Hi folks,
i had a change to visit IWC in schaffhausen, just want to share some pics that i manage to take. Sorry for the limited and poor quality pics as i was not allowed to take any in the museum,so these are "spy shots".
Schaffhausen is a stone throw away from the famous Rheinfalls, 1hr away from Zurich. From the train station its a 10mins walk to IWC.
It is interesting to know that the IWC building sits on the same site as it was 140 years ago, and last year they kind of expanded the premise and converted the ground level to an avant-garde museum, totally state of the art.
About 230 priceless timepieces were displayed some dating back more than 100 years, pieces like the Jones calibre pocket watches which i thought i will never ever see.
Also on display is the original Big Pilot Watch of year 1940, at 55mm and 16.5mm thick, its the biggest watch i have seen. Looks more like a clock to me.
Others including the Grande Complication in Platinum and the Portuguese Tourbillon Mystere were there, both very beautiful, very very expensive.
I also spoke to their staff Nicole who show me around the boutique and when i told her i have never see the AT Vintage in real she was most kind to show me one, the only one in the building and its reserved.
The AT has a bold and attractive look, very clean cut and feels solid, though lighter than my U2. The rubber strap feels good too but it's a bit too thin i think. It sells for $8100chf including tax, cheaper than our prices here???
Even though i did not buy anything at the end, but i was given a "goodie bag" which contains a museum booklet, a WATCH INTERNATIONAL magazine publish by IWC, a pricelist of all the models and lastly the holy IWC bible with stories and details of the IWC family of watches, all 317 pages of it :P
Thats all i have to share,
thanks for viewing.
