Got the package from my neighbor roughly about 90mins ago. In fact, the watch had already touched down in SG on saturday's early morning @ 02++hrs, and it took SPEEDPOST to release the package to their courier on Monday, where i was supposedly to work for the whole day. So to be fair, this time round it was really a fast ride that takes about 4 working days from dispatch till arrival in SG. Compares to the much longer wait which i have to spend with the first purchase of UHR-261.
1st impression-
The watch itself is big, the biggest size in my collection of watches! I never had any 47mm or bigger sized piece in my collection. Even though it was in leather strap, the watch also feels much heavier than my STEINHART Ocean44 DLC, but weighs lighter than the UHR-461 diver's Chrono. The watch is really just too much even for my chunky wrist, since it was listed in UHR's website as 48mm. Now it would really take me some time to further re-consider, it i'm to make another purchase on big sized watch.
The greenish-yellow markers compliments well with the black dial, sort of reminding me on what i had seen on some black sport cars with luminous greenish-yellow decals. There isn't much numeric hour markers except for the number 12. The black dial seems to be a little dull, without any textures printed on the dial surface. In addition, the hour markers are shaped in stripes, where it makes the watch shifting away from being classic looking. To be frank, it seems much sporty looking.
The leather smell from the strap... ohh... smells delicious, and fresh. The yellowish-white threads used on the strap also cries out loud to everyone who look on this piece, "I am a sporty piece! Dudes!"
How's the lume? Initially i thought that only the major hands are applied with the lume material, so i charged the the lume by using LED torch on the dial for 30 seconds. The hour markers are lumed as well! although not so bright as the hands maybe... i guess probably due to some kind of glossy material applied on the markers that might have affected the brightness.
The package quality-
The watch is packed together with a black plastic card as well as the user guide on ETA 7753 movement in a hard-card based box with 2 clear elastic film securing the watch that may help to prevent against any hard knocks or vigorous shaking during the shipping process. Truly an economical way to save on packaging cost that may eventually passed on to their customers from different part of the world. With good spacing packing, even if the external box that packed the watch box was delivered with serious dent, it will most likely not to passed on to the watch box.
Will i go for another UHR AUTO CHRONO?
OOOH YEAH! For the price of 499euro, or perhaps another model that may cost another 100euro more... with perhaps any other design...
UHR AUTO CHRONO is really a great catch that must not be missed!!!
