    Hi Guys

I'm heading to HK soon, am thinking of checking out the helson watches. Is it possible to get it from any shop front? Rather than shipping it?

    Greatly appreciate the advices.

    Thanks and Happy CNY!

                My experience with Helson Watches

This post is not a review of my Helson Shrak Diver but to share my great experience with Peter Helson.

I bought my first Helson watch, a SD42, sometime end of March from a guy over the forum. All was well and I absolutely loved the orange-lume watch until I tried to swap out the original bracelet for a mesh. To make long story short, the holes on one of the endlinks are a bit off thus making it very difficult to assemble/disassemble the bracelet. In fact it was not possible with the tool provided and so I had to send it to the watch smith to do the job.

I wrote an email to Peter about the "fault" and seek help. Peter explained that it was not a fault but due to the small tolerance intended to prevent the link from rattling. He then sent me a video showing how the job could be done with some tools. I told Peter that I didn't have such tool and didn't want to send my watch to the watch smith everytime I want to change bracelet/strap. Peter then suggested I send back the watch and they will fix it.

Concerned with losing the watch and the relatively high freight cost that I have to pay (they will pay the return freight), I told Peter that I would prefer to just swap the endlink or pay for one. Peter explained that the watches were shipped as a set so he didn't have a spare endlink.

I was about to give up and live with the small imperfection, when upon sensing my disappointment Peter replied that he was meeting up with a friend who had the same watch. He would have the endlink tested and if that was good he would send it to me. I was delighted and told him I would return my piece as soon as I receive the replacement.

After about 1+ week of wait, I finally received the endlink yesterday, sent from Phuket (supposely from his friend). I immediate tried it and manged to fix it onto the watch/bracelet very easily. I am a happy man thanks to the excellent after sales service of Helson Watches.

Through out the whole communication, Peter has been very responsive, even though he was travelling at some point.

I just thought such a great service deserves a mention in this forum.

(I kept my promise and sent back the old endlink at the post office this morning. Only after I left the post office did I realize I should have put a smily face or a thank-you on the envelop...)

And I didn't even buy directly from Helson (I told Peter in my first email). Yes the warranty was still valid but he could have stopped at the point when I decided not to send back the watch.

I wonder how many big brands would go that far to support a user who bought from the resale market.

I recently had the chance to speak to Peter too, lucky to pick up his last Buccaneer GMT hidden DEEP in his drawer that was supposed to be sold out ages ago.
He is really very accomodating and I feel his watches are really value for money. Not many Boutique brands that I have come across package their watches with so many strap choices, pins and buckles!! Except maybe Steinhart.
My next watch will definitely be the Sharkmaster, I guess it will be the 1000m first as the 600m is all sold out!!
