From my understanding, AR coating is very similar to that used on glasses / spectacles when you do a multi-coating.
As long as the surface is NOT subjected to any strong cleaning agent (like dish washing soap / grease removing detergents), it should not deteriorate or remove the AR coating... Best is you use very mild and diluted cleaning soap if you really need to use any to prevent any AR "shedding" spots...
Any brothers here can further confirm or clear my understanding on this?

if the ar really makes u peeved and u could do w/o it, i suggest capecod cloth to strip the ar coating. i did it to my brother's u2 last nite and he did not even notice it...for now.

Yup. read yr DIY adventure. Tentatively no requirement yet as there are no scratches. Have u done it on yr own U1 ?
same as yrs, no scratches on u1 crystal yet so i guess i won't touch it yet. itching to try it on my Omega PO though. AR really serves no purpose other than purely aesthetics. look at rollies sporties.
