I guess fate (or providence) has a way to guiding us towards our ideal pieces, one way or another. Well, another five years is up, who knows what design IWC has conjured for the rumoured updated Big Pilot next year! Btw, the 5003 with the turbine second hand is a real beauty as well. Haha, sure thing, coffee's no problem if schedule permits!

Lolz Maybe Arex wants to consider the BP Perpetual Calendar, then we can swop watches once in a while?Sweet 16:

However from your post, it seems like you have already made up your mind with the BP. Personally I decided to part with the portuguese 7 days as I found it to be a tad too small and am changing my collection to bigger watches which suits me better. However I still miss it every now and then when I need a watch with a classic white dial. My wife loves the portuguese 7 days very much too as it is so classy.
Maybe this will help nudge you to make a decision since you have more or less decided? I have just switched from the original black crocodile strap to the thinner crocodile straps used by the portuguese 7 days and its so much more comfortable and sits better on my wrist. It fits better under the shirt cuffs as well.

The 5003 would be perfect, in fact, a clean dial Type A would be even better but I guess that'll make the BP much less distinctive...sigh, I'm actually contemplating letting my 5002 go to get two Glashutte Original Senator Navigators, Type A & B. Dunno if its a good idea?

Negative bro rebbot. I think I have to add quite considerably to my budget to get the LE (perp cal yellow marking BP). Love to have it though. How much is it selling for anyway in spore?
Actually, at first I was going to get the pilot chrono 3717-01, then increase my budget for port 7d 5001 and then increase again for BP 5004. It's gonna be though to increase the budget further mate.
In regard to BP 5004 vs 5002, I actually like the numbering in 5004. Dunno why though?Maybe I am new to IWC?
I think I came across quite a similar discussion in regard to the new rolex submariner 116610LN vs the previous version (16610). Most ppl I would say didn't quite like the new design. But, I kinda love every bit of it.
Now, one thing might going to put my plan of getting BP on hold is that bro toffeesthings mentioned about new BP model next year. Googled a bit but didn't seem to find any info. Keen to shed some light here?????

Again its a matter of preference but do not go one big round only to realise the existing one is a keeper.

Painfully sold them and got my 5004, then 5002...and now, the vintage 1936...
On a seperate note, I do like the vintage panerais with the older rolex cases and movement. I saw one or two in a private auction before going for around 40K but might regret it if I pull the trigger since I do not have unlimited watch funds to play with.

I wore it for a while and felt stupid with such a huge watch. It was nice though from a history point of view. I would have kept it in a display case if I did not need the funds for other watches.

I am not sure of the pending updates for the BP as I do not follow the product lifecycle. Maybe the last update trend is once in five years? My thoughts is prices will keep increasing, the longer you wait, the more expensive it becomes. If you like it, buy it.
Cheers!

The updated BP model is merely speculation amongst enthusiasts, don't take it too seriously! If it is the 5004 that reaches out to you, just get it! : )Sweet 16:
