By brand name, IWC. If i wanna a complicated dial, perhaps i would choose Breitlings. Personal preference will still be IWC - Aquatimer, Ingenieur.

U r in IWC sub-group. So the answer is clear. Perhaps try posting this thread in Brietlings group and see what's the outcome.

          IWC for me of course.

Support IWC all the way over Brietling. I used to own a Brietling Montbrillant Semi-Perpetual since 1998 but I recently sold it away. After 13 months of purchased, the pusher did not work and I sent it back to factory for repair. Luckily Agent still honoured the repair even though warranty's over. Then, in the 5th year (2003), same thing happened. Sent back to agent and they quoted more than 2K to repair. I felt it was not worth repairing and I just left it inside my safe, until one year later, in 2004, I learned from a 2nd hand shop that they could repair for $500. When I took out the watch from my safe, guess what happened! The Brietling totally oxidized. All my other watches did not have this problem except Brietling. I couldn't believe it as Brietling is supposed to be famous for its ruggedness. Anyway I got the watch repaired for $500. This June, the watch pushers' problem resurfaced. Went to check the repair fee and was quoted 1k for servicing. In the end I was very fed up and sold the Brietling at quite a substantial loss. I also own a IWC Perpetual Calendar and I have no problem with it.

              Without a doubt, IWC.

IWC. dial looks less complicated, very balance design, strong technical background, reasonable price for complication features.

I am with feilong on this topic :

For Diver watch - Breitling(seawolf) value for money tough as a rock IWC is comfortable but pricy both brands have poor resale value

as for serving both are ETA so still alright

For pilot watch -IWC Breitling's dial is far too complicated & confusing

I was contemplating on a pilot watch and I knew Breitling had numerous models. I go for IWC pilot in the end for it's simplicity and it's dial design on close similarity with the cockpit instrument dial.
So my clear choice is IWC.

                          Hi Hi...

I do have a brietling emergency, would you like to buy it from me as a collector? Is $4380. If you do have a budget of $10,500, you may be able to buy two watches...most imp0ortant piece is the Rolex Sea Dweller "y" series which price around $6,200. And of course the breitling.

It's like going to a BMW forum and ask if BMW is better or mercedes. And vice versa.
I don't have enuf watches but I will stop buying now!

                                Depends on budget and type

Both brands are somewhat different in their range and hence pricing. Both brands make nice watches but much depends on what you want.

From a heritage perspective, IWC seems to have the edge. They also tend to have more watches with in-house movements - if that matters.

But as some has already made a comment - if you post in the IWC forum, they will tell you IWC is better. So somewhat biased.

Buy what you are comfortable with and what your budget can afford. Buy what you like - that is the most important thing.

                                Happy hunting!
