  • IWC Portuguese Regulateur IW544404 at S$13K, is it worth it?

Hi to all IWC experts in this forum,

Recently, I saw an offer selling a used IWC Portuguese Regulateur IW544404 (in 18K white gold with grey dial) for close to S$13K, is that worth it? The watch is dated back to Mar 2008. Apart from the date, there is a chip to the bezel and sapphire glass at the 12 o'clock position.

I would also like to seek your opinion if sending this for servicing is able to repair the chip?

Hope to hear any comments or advice. Thanks!

I am no IWC expert, but 13k doesn't sound like a great bargain for a watch that has chipped bezel and sapphire glass...

A brand new Stainless Steel model was asking about S$11-12K after discount after 2 years ago i checked. For WG model, if the condition is not too bad, i think it's still reasonable. But note that this regulateur model is not as popular as the Portuguese 7 Days so maybe resale price could be affected as well.

Really? For a WG model? If it is not too troublesome, would you be able to PM me the name of the shop. I frequent Hong Kong and could definitely pop in to have a look

Thanks for all the information. I understand that the 7 day power reserve model is more sought after, so I am contemplating between the two models as well. In fact, the regulateur series is already discontinued, but I have to admit that I do like the regulateur more unique look and feel. However, at S$13K I would be able to get a BNIB 7 days

Does any bro here know what is the cost to replace a sapphire crystal for IWC watches? I can't seem to find a definite answer on the web.

Why don't you just call Richemont Singapore for the cost of replacing the sapphire crystal...?

Unfortunately, I'm not in Singapore right now and the Richemont Service Centre in London is not that friendly This watch is actually in London, so I'm doing my assessment whether I should get it or not.

don't think it's cheap since with 1k more you can get a brand new big pilot

Thanks for all the inputs. After some consideration, I have decided to give this piece a miss. Will be considering the IWC 7-days instead. Afterall, a BNIB is of similar price and it holds an in-house movement =)

hk increase price by 7% on 1st june. iwc 7 days cheapest is 11k currently and 13k for big pilot...brand new from non-AD.....as for shops i would not want to recommend any...as even with recommendations still got chance can get chop carrot head...only way is to go with someone who knows their watches very well...tsim tsa tsui has the most non-ad as well as the flagship boutique..
