Hehe Bro.. I actually wanted to get the 2824-2 movement Laco but decided on the manual instead after visiting that store selling Azimuth flieger..Manual winding & $4k plus..

I can now get a similar one with better history and cost only $717.. I somehow managed to escape GST..haha

I actually like the A dial but I find it too plain if it is a sterile dial..

Bro Feilong, thanks for your compliments! I think mine more quantity than quality compared to what other bros have. I not towkay, just crazed collector that's all!
If I'm the reluctant King of Pilot Watches (but I'm sure there are Emperor's and Deities of Pilot watches out there), then you are the reluctant King of XMM, hehe!
Well anyway, when I clear all my shi**y work, I'll drag the watches and dogs out for a photoshoot of my updated collection.
Hopefully can upload the pics before CNY, then you can have drooling competition with my doggies! (just kidding)

Glad you went for the manual winding version Bro Leslie, the originals were also hand-wound. To each his own but I agree with Bro Feilong that Pilot dials generally look better sterile. The pilots fighthing for their lives shouldn't be distracted by branding. Sh*t, that was a really dumb reason, haha!

But here's a burning question I got for all reading, what's the history behind the Type A and Type B dial?
Kudos to those who can provide what's closest to the truth and thus provide closure to collector's like us.

I've heard several conflicting versions where they go like this:

Version 1. Type A was worn by the pilot and Type B by the co-pilot

Version 2. Type A was produced circa 1939-41 and replaced by Type B from 1941 onwards. So both types may not have been produced at the same time but rather in different batches.

Also, IWC and Wempe only produced Type A. Laco, Stowa and Lange & Sohne produced both versions, so we only see Type A in IWC catalogues (and the IWC casing style differs from Laco & others).

I thought u were refering to the gmt-master..hahaha.. i tried to find some info about the a and b dial but not much records leh..

i've heard from those guys at watchuseek and they were saying that a dial appears in early part of ww2 and dial b comes in after...

IWC lugs are more like the miyota one which has a more modern look..

hehehe..i oso tot Bro Toffeesthings refer to the gmt master...hehehehe.....that is 1st used by Pan Am pilots i suppose...hehehehe..peaceful pilots...non-combat....hehehehe....

i think sterile dial is so nice for a pilot....and i prefer Laco to Stowa as the casing for Stowa is 40mm which i personally find a tad too tiny for a pilot watch...afterall isn't pilot watches suppose to be big and chunky!!!!
