Hi bros,

is there a Girard Perregaux service centre in Singapore? I would like to bring my dad's vintage watch for servicing. Its a first from my mum to him, hence the sentimental value.

Called up the service centre today and found out that servicing the watch is at least 2.5K!! Got a shock as the watch only cost about 600 bucks when my mum bought it. But then again, this watch is even older than me. Sigh. If not for the sentimental value, will not even bother about servicing the watch...

If yes,DON'T service.

Cause after service the watch look so new and the sentimental feeling is gone.

Dunno about it. Depends on my dad. He is sourcing for servicing the watch at a cheaper price. See how it goes. Sounds more logical to get a new watch instead though. LOL. Maybe can get him to buy the watch that I like then can borrow from him from time to time.

I am sure there are watch makers outside that can service the watch.. How about top hour?

Not sure about that. My dad passed it to his fren who apparently got a lobang for servicing vintage watches. See how it goes...

Update on the watch. Servicing it costs $800. But it is no longer the same watch. Nearly 80% is changed. Sad to see that. Glass has been changed to plastic. Added water resistance to the watch. Movement is changed as well because it has corrode. Told my dad not to service it and let it be just get another new watch and keep the old one for sentimental value but too late. Have a feeling that my dad got ripped.

Sorry can i confirm is the service centre BMI at Faber house? cuz my friend gotten an oversea vintage series, wanted to check on the authenticity + servicing....

The service centre is in Malaysia from what I heard. Its my dad's fren brother in law.

Actually they have 1 in Singapore. Got my secretary to send the watch down to BMI (F J Benjamin appointed servicing center), they tested & adjusted for FOC. but no service record or what so ever paper...can i request for an authentication service? any GP expert here can help?
