My Da Sao in her late 20s, went to the IWC boutique and ask to see some watches with the intention to make immediate purchase, the lady also throw funny remarks, she actually exclaimed "do you know this watch cost at least $8-$9k"? Needless to say, she bought from 1 of the local AD! haha...

Is it the lady that looks like a filipino at Ion IWC? Your sis in law is not the only one....i also kenna, even my elder sister also got it...snide remarks like this is very expensive when we were looking at 5001....as if we cannot afford to buy it....was looking ard in the boutique when 2 ang moh came in...as expected her attitude suddenly changed...super nice and courteous, even invite them to sit down at the couch... pui!

Almost all the ad sells portfino... sincere or cortina.. discount and price u have to ask .. so many different models how to know what u are looking for ??

No discount from boutiques and I would be surprised if they give. Most likely it will be freebies (like extra strap, catalogue, etc.). when you purchase from them.

Agree on the controlled discount. They are quite strict right now. Also, amount of discount from AD varies from person to person. Depending on many factors. But again, to get more than 25% from an IWC AD in Singapore will be considered very good already.

I went to the Ion outlet at level 2 and ask for a discount for 3717, the IWC lady gave me a exasperated look as if i am asking for the sky and told me IWC watches do not have discounts as these are high end prestigous watches. After much discussion, she told me the most she can do is to give me one more leather strap and extend the warranty by 6 months...

That's pretty much the standard reply from IWC boutique. The boutique does not give much discount if any at all. best offer I got from them was 5% + free straps. AD's usually provide a much better offer.

Holy smoke, guys! Why are we even talking about discounts from the watch boutiques ?! There is absolutely no discount, or very little and standard discounts given, by the boutiques. It is the ADs who are slightly more generous in giving better discounts; NOT the boutiques.
