  • Real Newbie Question - Manual Winding

    Hi all,

I have just acquired a Firemen NT from a fellow bro here, and this is my first time owning a automatic mechanical watch.

I need some expert advise as to whether regular manual winding the watch to keep it moving, without wearing it daily will be detrimental to the movements.

As I do not wear the NT daily, and without a watch winder (very exp!!), the watch will stop, so can I continue to wind it manually every morning to build up the power reserve?

    Appreciate your advises in advance.

    Cheers.

I think if u surf around tis forum mre thorough, u shld get ur answer. Winding it is no prob. If 2 often, u r oni getting te normal wear n tear after long period. Dun think it'll b "detrimental to the movements" la. Anyway, congratz !

no you will not damage the movement, just be sensible and dont overwind, when the crown starting to feel tight release and stop

        Hi all,

        Thanks for the advices.

Yes, enjoying the NT now, the lume at night is geat.

I have also just change to a rubber strap, and it feels & looks much better than the original leather strap, IMHO.

        Cheers.
