  • IWC warranty -- Need Help???

    Hi guys,

Just wondering if my IWC watch ( about 2 months old ) and the warranty card is totally unfilled, i.e without AD stamp, without date, no indication of watch model or movement serial numbers... will richemont recognise or honour the warranty.... pls help

Just call up Richemont to ask lor. Common practice is that there must be AD stamp on the warranty card.

Better quickly get the AD to chop! If not, call up IWC service center, in case anything wrong with the watch and then they can deny the servicing. The AD chop is important, others not so critical.

If dated, after 2 years, warrenty card is useless.....

I thinik warrenty cards are over rated, normally watches don't spoil within 2 years unless u cheat on the date.....

minimum to have on the warranty card/paper is the AD stamp.

even if you dont date it, watch brand can 'trace' this is because all watches have serial number and they know when they leave factory.

also local AD usually will print the serial number on your receipt. as such very hard to run away.

as mentioned, reputable brands usually dont have any manufacturing defects to movement. so it is unlikely they wont be defective. however, i do know that one of our member here who owns a reputable brand watch had his watch in and out for close to 1 year.

IWC Warranty & Richmont Poor Service

I don't think one can simply use serial number to determine the warranty period, manufacture date does not necessary equal to 'sold date' because watch can be in the shop unsold for a variety of reason. And frankly Richmont does not keep all record of those watches that they serviced (read my story below...), they are dealing with luxury mass produced watches.......not the real exclusive one like PP....

Just sharing my recent bad experience with Richmont, I think they are simply out there to make money by conning people into servicing their watches and charge us exorbitant money....

I bought my IWC Portuguese Chrono back in 2006 in Seoul airport. Recently the watch stop working and I took it back to Richmont for servicing. I didn't bring my warranty card on my first visit and simply told them the watch is out of warranty, and they told me that it required some extensive servicing and the cost is $600 and it takes 2 weeks to complete the job, I decided to take back the watch because I found it costly (10 percent of my watch price leh...) and tell them that I will bring to places like Shanghai and Malaysia to service as it could be cheaper there (later I found out the cost is more or less the same.....sucker..).

1 month later, I decided to proceed with servicing with them. When I dig out the warranty card, I realise that there is no date stamp on it although there is a dealer stamp. I went to Popular book shop and buy one date stamp, and backdate to about 12 months ago and chop on the warranty card. So when I bring back the watch to them and complaint about the problem with this 'new' warranty card, they actually fixed it within 30mins for me ! When I ask them whether my watch requires 'servicing', they said NO !!

That tell me that they are simply using 'out of warranty' as a excuse to perform what I called unnecessary servicing on our watches.

Have anyone encountered similar situation like mine ?

                jeff

Seems quite sticky cos you need, at least, the AD stamp.
