i also have a seiko 5 many years ago.....i paid something like $65 for it. it is still in pristine condition. a white face no fuss beauty...i will post the pix once i take a picture of it next time...
this is my seiko 5, in fact the only seiko i owned.
i must have bought this a dozen years ago or more. i remember it was (another) impulse buy at a mom-n-pop shop in AMK Central. i paid no more than $60 for this. it is still in perfect working condition though i don't wear this anymore. i keep it in my dry box together with a few `privileged' others, where i sort of `retired' the watches. just admire and a little tlc once in a while....
i stumbled on another mom-n-pop watch shop at the refurbished old airport road food centre last month. the shop upstairs has a decent range of seiko 5 on sale. the uncle told me that the seiko 5 now costs $90 and above, and most have a transparent back glass to show the movements. he too lament the loss of the seiko 5 innocence, where it was just a simple, no fuss and affordable automatic watch. do give the uncle a visit (and buy something) if you have the chance. support the underdog.....
This one definately 1 rolex = < 3 seiko's and its a beauty, finish comparable to a Sub. My personal take else i won't be paying so much for a seiko, this is with an unadjusted grand seiko movt. 8L35. Enjoy
