sinn watch getting rusty?

my watches are not going anywhere near water after hearing the explaination from Bro Taipan.....regardless whether the watches are water resistant from 30metres or 3000metres...

Scary to see watches corroded,rust or pitting....i intend to pass down to my future generations de...hahaha

Thanks for the information bro taipan. there was another rusty sinn Watch thread in wus forum, that guy had rust on the top part of the watch case and lugs.. More jialat..guess I have to spend some time to clean my watch now

it is good to clean watches regularly...esp bracelets....or else gunk or dirt might get stuck there...then our watches will become germs heaven...

I took the time to release the bracelet and rubber strap on both my U1 Tempus and U2 S, on the U2 S bracelet, no sign of rust is seen. However, to my surprise, the U1 Tempus has exactly this rusty part on the same region, however, using toothbrush and small amount of soap water, this rust can be removed easily/not permanent and doesn't have any kind of pit/marking left.

Further investigation revealed that this rust can be from the spring bar as shown here:


It's probably due to contact to water/dirt/natural elements as I have dived with this watch several times.

Anyway, simple solution can be taken such as cleaning off the rusty part as well as the holes for the spring bar to seat in then replace this spring bar with a new one (luckily I have spares from my other Sinn watch).

The case/the watch head itself should not corrode because of sea water as described earlier.

If you have a look at the caseback, it is written SEEWASSERBESTÄNDIG which means resistant to sea water and it is made for this (tegimented or not, it does not matter).

I did a google on "rusty submarine" and learn a new meaning in urban dictionary.

But submarines do rust, as do all items with iron.
