NEW: Bell & Ross BR 01-96 & BR 01-97 Commando Limited Editions

Bell & Ross recently introduced two new professional watch models, within their Instrument collection, the BR 01-96 and BR 01-97 Commando Limited Editions. Specially designed for the elite fighting commando forces, each watch features a stealth grey color scheme and reflects no light.


Two models have been announced, both of which are limited to editions of 500 pieces.

BR 01-96
The BR 01-96 presents the hours minutes and sweep seconds, in addition to a large date display adjustable through the winding crown.


BR 01-97
The BR 01-97 features a conventional date display, but offers a circular power reserve indicator to reveal the degree of operating power remaining in the spring barrel.


Both of the Bell & Ross Commando watches are powered by ETA base calibers which have a power reserve of 42 hours. Anti-reflective flat sapphire crystals, and black superluminova-applied hands and bold hour and minute scales assure excellent readability in any lighting condition. The distinctive dials are matched by Bell & Ross grey rubber straps and powder coated buckles. Cloth straps are available optionally. Water-resistance is 100m.

But ironically, their BR 01 Phantom model looks like it has more stealth value because every feature is in black aka "Black Ops". If anything, special forces always have their unit badges emblazoned on their overalls in grey.

i cant think of any reason why any elite force from anywhere will want a watch that cant really tell time.

I wonder if the same can be said of the JLC Navy Seals series released in Jan 2009 at SIHH. Their prices are so way out of reach of soldiers except Gen Norman Schwarkopff.
