  • Omega Speedmaster vs Tudor Black Bay

Contemplating either one of these as my next purchase at a budget of about 4.5k, here are the comparisons ive summed up

    1) Cost: New Black Bay at 4.5k but only a Used Speedy < 4.5k (looking at the 3570.50.00)
    2) Speedy is known as the moon watch, not sure whats the story behind the black bay
    3) Lemania vs ETA (lemania > ETA?) - Anyfeedback on Lemania?
    4) Sapphire Glass vs Hexalite on the Speedy

    Which one will you pick?

    Thanks!

I had both. Moon watch is really a legend by itself. Very versatile piece with a lot of heritage behind it. I don't care about the hesalite crystal being vulnerable to scratches. There's just so much to this watch that draws you to it.

I feel more attached to the moon watch than the BB.

The Speedmaster Pro. Meaningful history, timeless look, greater watch.

Actually black bay is nearer to 4k rather than 4.5k. Anyway, it really depends on whether you want a new model or a classic piece. If you don't need something that is inclined towards the heritage line, then black bay may be a good choice. But of course the two watches belongs to different categories. Black bay is not chronological and is less cluttered. But both does not have a date.

Although i am a TUDOR fan.......however, when u compare a Black Bay to a Speedy......I go for the Speedy this time......Love the classic look of the speedy, hate the crown on the BB.....

Thanks for all the input - anyone knows if the black bay is an auto or manual?
I always had the impression it was a manual but the lady at the AD told me it's an
                  Auto.

tudor watches have been automatic for the longest time ("rotor self winding" a la rolex's "perpetual" rotor).

I will say get both if one can afford.

I currently have a sapphire sandwich but would love to have Black Bay in my collection. Only headache is burgundy or blue now?

Speedy pro +1. As a non-purist, I esp like the version (black dial) with moonphase.
