  • Panerai homage brands

    Hi people,

I've seen reviews about the Getat watches, Jackson's as well as some other homage brands, but I recently came across Gruppo Gamma. This is a Singapore based boutique watch brand featuring marina militaire types. Anyone has any experience dealing with this brand?

What about a comparison? Which homage brand is the best?

    Thanks!

Getat watches looks interesting especially when you can choose your case, dial, movement, hands etc ! Is Panerai going to sue them ?

Selling price is super reasonable !

These homage makers don't seem to get in trouble. Strange. In any case, there are just so many homage makers out there that I think panerai would find it hard to sue them all... In my case, trying on a homage version first at less than 350 for a piece is a lot wiser since I've got tiny wrists.

Gruppo Gamma looks interesting. But only radomir style and non customizable unlike Getat. How, anyone got any advice for me?

Gruppo Gamma is value for money, and the service is great! Makes you feel right at home. I'm actually on to my 3rd piece now!

Get without fear. But you must wait. Cos delivery fulfillment depends on when watches are ready. Every batch seems to sell out really fast.

Why don't you go to the GG site and email them if you need some help. As for personal experience, well, I tried to ask if they could do a face-to-face meet-up with me instead of sending the watch by post. They agreed, but I didn't commit in time for a watch at the time and had to wait for the next batch, then I missed out on the assumption that I already "ordered" since I said I wanted and would meet up to pay COD. All these time, the Facebook messages were very civil and they were very helpful.

GG is a good watch for the price...its very well constructed, using seagull movements. At least it is better than your generic Chinese eta copies.

Just gonna talk about the watch.

I initially got a brass model first to try it out and see its quite weighty like brass, maybe because of my environment, it oxides into rather black from a brasso polished state which is quite nice either way.
mainly getting this is because i've nv had a brass watch

later i think that i do not really suit brass and the green dial abit not to my liking..in a stroke of luck, managed to trade it for their automatic model. the genesis date. unique thing is that it has a white small date window, functional and have the there-not-there feel. Guess I am more safety and I'm liking the fact that it looks like a mirror. Maybe there is but seems like 44mm fiddy casings offered by panerai do not have polished surface. Typically is brushed case with polished bezel only.

Sometimes I just don't notice the date window.
The watch uses a screw bar instead of spring bars.

the lume is so-so compared to a Seiko Monster, then again nothing is like the seiko monster except for maybe omega and ulysses nardin.

this brand uses limited release for most of their models, some models discontinues temporarily, some permanently. This is mainly due to the limited production size they are running, not some marketing ploy used by big corps.

They release some special models once in awhile for instance their first model is permanently discontinued. They have brass models sporting a blue cali dial (unique). More significantly, they also have a pencil shade pvd model that is due for shipping out soon.

Get this: the owners decided to pass the watches in a get together session at a cafe in clarke quay with complimentary snacks and drinks. Nothing fanciful but this is alot coming from a brand that managed to keep its costs very low for its overings.

the online fb owners group is quite a huge n friendly community. the owners do reply on almost anything, members of the group also posts plenty of pictures to ogle at and also the strap-love there is huge.

Also need to mention that their default strap is a tremendous joy to wear and at its last hole, it fits my 6.3 inch wrist which is good as I hardly get that kind of fitting. Its a pleasure to have that as always I have to deal with my straps having 2 kinds of holes.

I couldn't suggest any other local homage in the market, except that i find some of the Deutsche Master sold @ 25hrs outlets seems to be homage after PANERAI design.

The other non-local one that i can think of is GETAT, and Manbushijie. Which seems to have some followers here in SG as well. Recently i just came across a auto-chrono which is fitted with a ShangHai movement that's regarded in WUS as 7750 clone. TICINO, some folks knows, some folks don't.
