For competitions, maybe one about "spotting the fake" would be good? I believe many of us at one point or another had pondered about this topic. Not just a simple guessing game but with the need to compare, identify and justify. Points awarded to the most number of points identified (and minus points for incorrect ones lah). Not just for one to one comparison but multiple pieces of the same model or with different grades of fakes. Think such competition will help elevate the level of knowledge and awareness in SG ROC.
For the more knowledgeable members, vintage players or collectors, maybe one on spotting the mismatch dials, hands, date wheel, etc will be a good challenge? It may not have to be super rare vintage pieces like great white or DRSD but also with the newer discontinued models like 16610LV whereby there are 8 dial variations during it's production run period.
As for the reward/prize, I guess whatever the sponsor/advertiser feel comfortable or economically viable with. Surely not a free watch (can maybe give away the fake but not mismatch watch lah) but more along the lines of services such as discounted servicing, FOC valuation or authentication for a certain time frame or number of pieces, etc.
This might be a win win situation for both members and merchants. Members gain knowledge while merchants get free advertisement / promotion of their services during that event whereby attendees are likely to be possible future customers.
Once again, just my 2 cents worth. Please do not flame me.
