Btw my english is understandable to 99% of the general public as i speak in layman term and not some fancy style as some does...I am a 100% Singaporean.
So far, i do not have any issues with communicating to 40 persons in my workplace regardless from the office cleaner all the way up to the board of directors.Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak

as as administrator, i set the rule. it serves no purpose if the rule is not enforced. do you know that moderators and myself are being alerted on which member does not comply to which rule?
then it brings to the point of deterrence. since it is to deter then if no penalties are enforce, what is the forum going to do with members who uses multiple nicks?
also on what grounds should a forum take action against a user with multiple nicks? in what way is creating multiple nicks disruptive to a forum?
if a spammer registers multiple nicks to disrupt the forum, actions are taken. if a user registers multiple nicks to sell, when will it be an issue?
so means should i listen to you or not? i very blur liao leh.

Yes, practically it is still not possible to stop people from having multiple nicks, but it would have the deterrence effect and people who want to use the forum long term would think twice about flouting the rule. Basically people can get around all the restriction/quota set per sale forum with multiple nicks...so please reconsider.Originally posted by pegasi View Post
When I first brought up this matter of multiple nicks in an earlier thread not so long ago, I already admitted that it would be difficult to enforce such a rule. And then I said again in this thread that it is practically impossible to stop people from doing so.if you have issues with your account, click here for self help and read forum rules here. 90% of your answers can be found in Forum FAQ

i believe some of the moderators have came up with many suggestions that were rejected.
do note that there is a conflict of interests between an administrator and moderator.
this is why i no longer actively moderate the forum.
do note that the moderators' feedback have been taken into consideration and suggestions are modified.
moderators' suggestions can be for the benefit of members as well.

Dear admin,
The last time we met, we were both happily drinking and forgot to discuss this stuff. So I am going to continue the discussion of my favourite topic in this thread.
But first let me attempt again to answer your two questions:
1. On what grounds should a forum take action against a user with multiple nicks? In what way is creating multiple nicks disruptive to a forum?
My answer: Think about what your aim was when you/the forum founder first started up this forum. I believe that while the potential of having some advertising incomes might be one of the things in your mind, you have wanted to create a platform to share a common passion and make friends, among other things. Would you truly like to share and make friend with people who put on many masks (nicks) to hide their identity and hide what they do or say on the forum?
2. It serves no purpose if the rule is not enforced
My answer: As I said before, how well a rule can be enforced is not the deciding factor of whether the rule should exist. A rule is to protect certain values or properties or rights. In some cases, one rule is fundamental to some other rules. I will challenge your “serves no purpose if a rule is not enforced” concept using the existing rules you have set for SG-ROC. Rules 1(vi), 3, and 4, can be easily bypassed by having more than one nick. So, why have rules that can be easily bypassed? Is that not as good (or bad) as not being able to enforce? I guess when you set those rules, in your mind you are assuming one person only has on nick, and that is what I mean by, fundamental to the other rules. And to me, having not more than one identity, is fundamental to promoting friendship and sharing.Watches are like potato chips - You never stop at one

What position other popular watch forums is taking on multiple nicks/accounts:
Rolex Forums
Violations of the following can result in immediate warning, suspension or loss of membership (ie. Banning)
Always use the same username and do not impersonate others. Use of more than one username is grounds for banning.
Timezone.com
Always use the same screen name and do not impersonate others. Do not create multiple screen names. Screen names may not reference your business (except for our sponsors), commercial web sites or trademarked names.
Watchuseek
Members must limit their registration to one account. Multiple accounts can be removed without notice.
Violation of these rules may result in disciplinary measures, which may ultimately include being banned from Watchuseek
None of the above 3 mentioned forums explains their reason of disallowing multiple nicks. I guess they do not have to. Do they monitor actively to try to figure out who has multiple nicks so as to "enforce" the rule? I personally do not think so. However, WUS has this to say about its rules...”The Forum Rules and Guidelines are intended to help foster friendly, respectful and pleasant interaction”. Which bring us back to my earlier question: what do SG-ROC want to achieve or promote in this forum?Watches are like potato chips - You never stop at one

what if i like to have a nick just for selling items and another nick to chit chat?
what if i like to have this nick to sell this lot of watches if it belongs to me and another nick that sells watches that belongs to another friend?
a forum can be used to make friends, i have no issues if a user wants to have multiple nicks, as long as it is not causing forum disruptions. i believe you can seen what sg-roc has done when users create multiple nicks to disrupt the forum.
as of now, the rules are already so long and many users have already complain. you want me to add more rules? the more rules that is enforced will make it more user unfriendly.
if you are to read the forum rules between the lines, there are rules which is already been stated that SG-ROC can enforce.
i would strongly suggest that you start to think that why is your suggestion is not taken by the owner(s) rather that keep thinking of asking the forum to enforce this rule and that rule.

different countries have different rules. as such different forums have their own house rules.
if the forums dont need to justify, how do you feel if i just deny your nick complete access without giving you any reason?
what does SG-ROC want to achieve/promote this forum is a business decision. i dont think the owners need to explain to you or me or any members as this sort of matters are best left to the owners to decide. i as a administrator do not have the right to question their decisions.
kindly understand that my role in this forum is to administer the site. i administer the site which means i am not a moderator nor a owner.
