Our name, SGROC may have abit of problems in future.. eg now, when we want to do our forum LE watch. As other watch makers may not be so willing to 'endorse' a Rolex forum.

Nonetheless, SGROC is what we started as and our 'tradition'... So we will never let go of that name.

Instead, i was thinking of giving our 'Other watches' category another name like
Singapore Watch Lovers Club (SGWLC), Singapore Watch Owners Club (SGWOC), etc.... i will register the new domain also and point to SGROC.

So in future, we won't have any problems if we need sponsorship for our events, etc... as ppl would be more willing to sponsor a generic watch lovers club than a specific Rolex Club...

Everything else remains...

guess i'm find with it...perhaps just a suggestion - if we going to start...can we find mods that are really 'pro' in that particular brand...cos for myself...guess i'm a one brand man...heheheheh sorry lar...heheh

... I feel should stick to core focus... rather than dilute efforts. After all, there are many other local (and foreign) forums for generic, and all the other brands too.

Focus on building "SG-ROC" as a brand... and you can have sponsors for events in the various "other brand" categories... like horomundi.com does.

Anyway, I'm not sure brand sponsors would be all that keen on the other brands either... there are <7000 posts today for ALL other brands. That's a fraction of the rolex related posts... and barely 1/4 of the marketplace and kopi-talk threads!

For any independent brand... would you want to sponsor an event for all other sg-roc members if your brand only commanded 1000 posts? It would be more efficient to go for the brand-specific forums which support their brand.

If you're looking for sponsors, consider other watch-accessory businesses e.g. watch winder brands, retailers etc.

maybe if greater numbers we can do something more constructive??
