  • Compulsory Actual Photo for Every Watch Sale Post

    Hi Guys,

    Just thinking aloud.

What do you guys make of if every sale post for watch requires at least a photo of the actual watch in question? Not just any photo which you can always copy & paste from the brand's official website. But, the actual photo of the watch that you are putting it up for sale?

This could perhaps, stop some guys from being scammed or putting up an "empty" sale to manipulate the price.

Your inputs? Hope to make trading here, a better & safer place. Thanks.

    Cheers
    Dino

An excellent idea, as you say to stop some of the scammers and as well to show everyone just what the buyer is selling.

why not start a poll to gauge the sentiments of how our members think of this idea...

based on the feedback, the mod team can then look into how to improve the sales section....
the hype is true. listen at your own risk.

i have spoken to him over lunch yesterday.

the rationale behind this suggestion is to weed out potential scammer who goes uses another seller picture to seller A and bargain for a low price and then post a new thread to sell the same watch. by 'forcing' a picture of actual watch. if this seller uses someone's else watch picture, it may be spotted quickly by fellow members. this is practised by one other watch forum.

another rationale is to prevent a potential buyer by registering a new nick to sell a watch he/she wants to buy. then post it as sold with a below average selling price. then the buyer goes to a seller and ask for a much lower price citing that 'hey, so-and-so' sold it @ that price leh.'

however, there is another concern i like to address. what if a genuine seller got no camera to take picture?

i dun think it's that diffcult to take photos of the watch,as the technology is so advance now,u could just take a photo of the watch that u're selling with ur hp then using ur hp just send the photo to ur email and it save the trouble of even uploading it from ur camera or etc.Just my 2 cents worth as most buyer I've deal with will like to have a photo if the watch sent to them and if I'm a buyer I will also do the same. And it seem that those watches with photo up for sale movew faster than those without photos.

If the seller wants to sell, he should also do some works eg. taking photos. It's his basic duty.

Some members can take very nice photo & this is up to individual. But at least 1 photo for each watch which I think is not too much to ask for.

                    Cheers

                      Agreed, if they can login here to sell 5,000 to 15,000 or even 20,000 dollar watches it would seem they could post pictures and if they cannot be bothered then;

Do they deserve to be able to use this website to sell items for that much money?

My point is they do not pay this website any commission or members dues and yet they feel they cannot even learn or go to the trouble of posting pictures?

This thread that Dino started, is very interesting and is very relevant. We are all afraid of scammers, price manipulators, false claims & time wasters.

Genuine sellers, should bother to post at least one picture.

But...just a few points to ponder on,

                        1) If a seller wishes to sell off a $30 casio watch, and has no wish to post photos? Then what? Can't post?

                        2) If a seller posts a "BNIB" item, the item should be as described, "BNIB". Photos would do no justice to falsify that claim.(A "LNIB" could pass off as a "BNIB" in a photo.)

End of the day, all of us would still want a "no obligations" viewing of the item, before handing our hard earned cash over.

But, I am FOR this idea, to prevent false claims, scammers, price manipulators, photo stealers & most importantly...wasting our precious time.

This is a great idea, to keep SG-ROC a safe place to buy & sell.

But it still boils down to the moderators, to enforce & include it in the "RULES and REGULATIONS"

                        just my 2 cents

erm...for me personally i usually ask interested parties to sms if they need any photos as i am not always in front of the computer due to my work nature...i can mms or email them as i keep most of my photos in my mobile phone and hate the hassle of posting via photobucket...

P.S: I am not a dealer and sell watches time to time due to new interest of new 'poisons'....

                            My take

I believe its only fair to post at the very least 1 pics of the watch you selling , especially those above a few ks watch , but if i gonna sell a watch that is below 1k , most probably i won't want to go through all the trouble to post a pics of a watch which i'm asking for $50 .

triton, I guess if a seller wants to sell something in the internet, he/she should learn how to sell in the internet... my 2 cents...
