Listing in the Private Garage and Sales

1) i dont agree that once a private seller hits 3 threads all the threads move to AD, dealer. the reason behind having a AD, private dealer was to separate the commercial ones from private sellers. my suggestion was to limit private sellers to have 2(arbitary) threads ie. one for rolex watch if there is, another for non-rolex. this will help to facilitate house-keeping. for example, seller can list 5 watches in one thread. when all is sold, the thread can be archived under sold items. then seller can open a fresh one.

as for private dealers, can open as many threads as possible for each of their watches listed. *for now as there are not many sellers* else, the maximum number of threads for dealers can be restricted to 2 or 5(arbitary).

AD section should not come under Private section as they are categorised differently. if have to, create a new section called Garage sales, then have

i) AD/dealer
ii) private
iii) misc
iv) WTB
v) Sold

As for the rest of the points, let me think about it first.

1) To set a criteria to whether to list a particular seller's watch in the AD section or Private Sale section. The cut off (good point by Wolfeyes aka James) maybe to set a criteria as 3 watches. Once a user list 3 watches and above, automatically his / her posts gets moved to AD thread. This is to benefit forum members of the ability to sell their watches without being phased out by the numerous post / sale by other members if they are ADs..

2) To improve traffic to AD thread, in the Private Garage Sale section, we include the AD thread in the SUB FORUM.. so at the top of the Private Garage Sale thread, it will show these stickies in order... AD thread, Misc items for Sale, Sold item thread and then WTB thread.

3) With respect to Pet's idea and illustration above... Don't merge AD into Private Garage Sale section thread.. it will only confuse or make viewing tiring.. (after some thought)

4) Maybe for the sticky for AD mentioned in pt(2) , can list max of the top 3 threads in the AD sale to reflect the activity there.. Maybe a summary / header / subject title only. For the surfer to find out more detail, then he/she have to go into that AD thread...

5) Well.. if the direction of the SGROC forum is to help drive the AD thread, then maybe can consider integrating a slide show some where around the top (or beside on the left of the SG-ROC log) to have a live roll up of the top 10 items for sale in the AD sub-thread

6) I feel for the good of the forum, item 5 is a plus point so that we can invite more keen dealers here...

create a sticky thread for each AD/dealer in the garage sales. this way they get priority. second awareness is created.

limit the number of threads each AD/dealer and private seller can create. uniform rules applicable throughout the board.
