What about.. all in one page....

1. misc/ sold & wanted in the first section;
2. AD/ Dealer;
3. Private.

so dealer want their items to be higher up, they will post in the AD/ dealer section... hee

Just wondering...

Should we allow only forumer buyer and seller to post in the SG-ROC Private Garage and Sales? While those who are likely to be Dealer (QC by moderators) to move their advert in the AD, Dealer, Manufacturer Shopping Gallery thread...

To assist these freelance dealer like Benjiyui.. you can always put a sticky on the SG-ROC Private Garage and Sales linking to their thread in the AD, Dealer, Manufacturer Shopping Gallery thread...

THAT will effectively reduce the amount of new post in the SG-ROC Private Garage and Sales where forumer have their post "phased out" quickly as the pte dealer / collector post so many individual post to sell their watches..

To Pte dealer / collector, no offence but at least it will help organise the threads better.. You can also organise your own thread to itemise your sale within your own thread.. That way you can build up your "collection" and reputation with the number of watches you sell...

excellent point! i've to struggle to make my sales thread visible at times (not entirely the dealer's fault)..but it's a neat way to organize it...

lol...if they want to sell more than 3 they will have to inform us then we allow them as least we know. How bout that? they can post more but have to seek permission

seeking permission and granting approval on whether they can sell more than 3 watches is complicated...how/when do you allow them to list more? what criteria will you use to allow/disallow it? it's better to have a neat 3 watches per day or move them into AD section (what pet suggested)...this i think will be a good arrangement and avoid misunderstandings/complaints about prejudice..

That's some interesting question thrown at me.

I think we would have to decide. Coz at first my idea is to be able to know when a person is posting several watches,not to control the number. No criteria...just want to monitor the movement that's all.

But to open up the AD section inside the garage would be a good idea. When louis comes back I will request him to do it.

that is why as suggested if you are a private dealer, come forward. just like couple of the members here, hence, your threads will be moved to special section. however, the maximum of 3 watches/threads per private dealer will longer apply. the watch that are sold will be kept in the same section and closed. this is to enable potential buyers know what watches you had offered and they can make a request to you personally saying if you come across such a piece, do let me know.

We are talking about 3 open threads . But what if seller list 5 watches under 1 thread and have 3 open threads ??

anyway the 3 is a figure pluck from nowhere, we can shrink it to 2 or 1 if we want to. not necessary to say 3. however, 2 could be ideal, one for rolex only watches, and the other thread for rest of brands.

this 3 open threads is restricted to private seller not dealer.

Brothers... I am slightly lost here but bear with me if you guys are already in this idea..

My personal opinon
1) To set a criteria to whether to list a particular seller's watch in the AD section or Private Sale section. The cut off (good point by Wolfeyes aka James) maybe to set a criteria as 3 watches. Once a user list 3 watches and above, automatically his / her posts gets moved to AD thread. This is to benefit forum members of the ability to sell their watches without being phased out by the numerous post / sale by other members if they are ADs..
2) To improve traffic to AD thread, in the Private Garage Sale section, we include the AD thread in the SUB FORUM.. so at the top of the Private Garage Sale thread, it will show these stickies in order... AD thread, Misc items for Sale, Sold item thread and then WTB thread.
3) With respect to Pet's idea and illustration above... Don't merge AD into Private Garage Sale section thread.. it will only confuse or make viewing tiring.. (after some thought)
4) Maybe for the sticky for AD mentioned in pt(2) , can list max of the top 3 threads in the AD sale to reflect the activity there.. Maybe a summary / header / subject title only. For the surfer to find out more detail, then he/she have to go into that AD thread...
5) Well.. if the direction of the SGROC forum is to help drive the AD thread, then maybe can consider integrating a slide show some where around the top (or beside on the left of the SG-ROC log) to have a live roll up of the top 10 items for sale in the AD sub-thread
6) I feel for the good of the forum, item 5 is a plus point so that we can invite more keen dealers here...

Just my personal thoughts on this subject I've raised... Can talk more tomorrow with those involved..
