Maybe alittle late for thread starter, but just for info, Swissotel Nankai Osaka, is one of the easiest to reach from osaka airport, direct airport train to station, and the hotel is located a few floors up. The hotel is surrounded by departmental stores, restaurants, and shopping streets.

If you're looking for popular japanese whiskies (i.e. Suntory, Hibikis, etc.) you're not much worse off if you get them from the supermarkets. Prices have gone up significantly with their popularity worldwide.
