  • Any reccomendations in Phuket

    hi all,

still new to this forum so do guide me along =)

going to phuket at year end during the december period, are there any places of interest, anything to see, shop, eat(good food->delicious) and have fun?

this is my first time going there and of course will not forget the beautiful beach.

    cheers!

you may wish to reserve 1 full day to visit phi phi island and some other small islands. once you're at phuket (patong beach), you'll see many small booths around selling such 1 day package. if i'm not wrong, it cost about 800 to 1000 baht.

been there once. took a taxi to hotel, but taxi stopped half way to introduce a travel agent for island hopping. if u encounter this, please direct the driver straight to the hotel cos the agency's cost is at least 2-3 times more expensive.

if u are going with spouse, then there isn't anything much left for u to do. Foot massage / thai massage is just average compared to bangkok.

if u are heading there alone / with guy friends, u should go try the SOI BANGALA, a happening place, mostly are ang mo's. ( that is provided if u are staying at Patong Beach )

rental of motorbike is about sgd 5-6 dollars a day, excluding gasoline be prepared to be stopped by their night road blocks. unless u have a valid driving license, u will be fined 300baht. even if u do not have a license, u just pretend say forget to bring, summon is still 300baht. Car rental i not sure cos parking for big vehicle seem a hassle.

Island hopping is fun, but having to think the 45 mins to 1 hour speedboat ride turns me off.
Reason : 15 to 20 paks in a mini speedboat, sometimes shoulder to shoulder, bumpy rides

            My overall experience @ Phuket is 5.5 / 10
( the above is just my personal experience, perhaps others have better opinion )

              hi honestdeal bro,

is there a minimum age for the driving of car and motorbike? if i am below the minimum age and yet i am driving a vehicle in phuket, thailand, will there be a heavier penalty?
thank you for your sharing your experience

                  Stick to walking and taxi

anyway, patong has an average size area, just round and round it goes, everything is walking distance away.

when play the water scooter, just be very careful, some nasty beach boys there after your ride claim you spoilt the water scooter propeller blades then claim compensations. check the blades and condition of bike before you go down the sea.
you are rich if you lives life fullest and die empty

My advise is don’t go for those free entrance thai boxing cafe where u only need to order a drinks and you can enjoy the show...the boxers will come to you to for tips after the match and a 3 game match is around 10mins so if you are there for 30mins you need to tips the 2 boxers x 3games x 5sgd -7sgd each boxer = 30 to 42 sgd.

Go and try some local makan stall at the small alley If you dare to. The food is good because is real authentic thai food as their main patron is thais, hygiene is so-so but the price is
