Phuket is a beautiful place. There are islands around Phuket which you can book at the travel kiosk along most of the roads and they are pretty cheap. They can pick you up at your hotel as well. Some hotels have their own travel agencies at thier lobby. Millenium hotel is excellent for the location and i remember that theres a travel agency at level one. You can choose to go for an elephant ride as well, very fun and exciting. I don know if James Bond island is still around after the Tsunami. I was there before the disaster but after that, never went island hopping liao, so not very sure if its still there. Its a beautiful island and the water is crystal clear. You can try canoeing too at these island and enjoy the crystal clear water. If you are adventurous, you can try para-sailing which can be expensive. The massage rate is about 300 to 400 baht per session of 2 hours if i can remember correctly.

If u are underage, best not to drive or ride as the police may demand a higher sum from you. The road blocks there are very consistent and they will set them up literally everyday as their income derives from it. there are many restaurants along the beach though their prices are thought to be pricey, Thailand standard. The place is very safe by the way, though try to avoid places with low traffic flow at night just to be safe.

Enjoy yourself and have a safe and fun trip.

there are many things you can do in Phuket like elephant trekking, sea canoe, whitewater rafting, island hopping. If you like water sports, you can scuba dive, water skiing and wake-boarding, surfing, snorkeling.

U must try the roadside banana pancake and bbq "jia gong" aka sweetcorn!
Mango puree drink with ice, more like eating mango then drinking mango.
There is an Italian restaurant near Patong beach, it's the only one, very prominient, inside all Serie A pics. You will see many ang mos frequenting, cheap cheap and good!
You must also check out this place "banana", it's a disco, music and atmosphere very gd and fun, DJ steady! At it's entrance, you see a BIG banana.
Try Thailand ICE COFFEE, imo, better than starbucks. Will be best if they used crushed ice than ice.
Not to forget, their tom yam goong la... Enjoy...

I just went to Phuket, and I noticed there are changes now.

The police is controlling the tourist area now,due to many complaint that they are many businesses not under license.

I think will be good for future and tourists safety as well.

I will definitely go to Phuket again.

My last trip to Phuket was Aug..went for bout 10 days.

my views>> Actually phuket there got nothing to do.
I did not even go to the beach (i stay at patong beach the Royal Plam hotel-jus opp the beach)..
Go there is drink/eat/sleep .... Food wise, there is a italian restuarant not bad (on 2nd lvl)but be prepared to wait for longer time. For shopping there "jungceylon" is ok, got hypermarket if you need to buy "fresh food" (as i brought my daughter there). For ladies, warcoal bra is cheaper by quite a bit there then SG....wife bought like 8 of them there.

Food wise, the best i feel is the MK Restuarant- there roasted pork,& roasted duck. Other then that, is go put tattoo..
For singles, there got many massage parlour ladies can talk talk price den go to the place of your choice.
Night time, many bar top dancing ladies, russian girls dancing at the "fish tank" etc..Kind of like 不夜城.

I was at phi phi for 6D5N. Not to be missed since you are already there...
Sit there ferry there, for sea sick ppl, the counter give out "free" giddy pills...can ask for a dap of "风油“ from the friendly operators too.
Phi Phi is a lay back place, i feel its better, no cars...
At there is relax, go snokerling, sit boat, diving...water is clear...
Night time party at the beach with fire hoops/throw fire, swing fire..."fire shows" with ppl dancing to music...
Food wise, its cheaper then phuket, those small stall of cos...but not bad to nice..maybe i am hungry after all the walking.

(Me/wife/daughter was there with another 3 couples - the one also with kids hv to let kids sleep nothing to do, so end up in room drink & chit chat, the other 2couple w/o kids is jus eat/sleep/play/drink)..as night time nothing much to do.

**My stay is like this... 1st night at phuket, 2nd to 6th night at phi phi, then rest back to phuket.
There is a reason for our trip to be this way...

Cos> From airpot, take veh (we chartered),bout coming 1.5hours to hotel (patong beach); if direct to the ferry from airpot is bout 1 hour + also...BUT here is the catch, u hand carry all ur lugguge on the ferry, carry up carry down..(ferry is bout 2 hours). so wasted time bout 3 to 4 hours jus on travelling...but this is my opinion lah.

Another reason is cos i miser> sit cheap plane, no food on board...
So, when i reach phuket, i tired & hungry liao, find food & rest etc..2nd day morning then go phi phi...

*Tip: Take what u need to phi phi to ease the load of your lugguges...put at hotel 1st, as you will come back later...phi phi island got almost all normal needs/necessities there...T-shirts is also 100baht (bout sgd $4 each.) Please buy bottled water to drink.

IF, i were to rate Phuket & BKK, BKK is more for shopping.
Phuket is relax, walk walk...same as phi phi island.

                            Hi,

Just back from Phuket with family.

Stay at Avista in Kata beach.....Never like Patong beach. Hotel is nice but not very near beach....walking distance of 10-15 mins... but cosy hotel.

Beach wise... too many russian.....think 90% angmo are russian there....beach crowded with them.....Kata beach is clean, clear and nice....but we never try the sea sports

Food...only try the restaurant once..... the rest....we went local market for food..... we bought bbq seafood, fishes squid and prawns..... cheap (to us) and nice..... a few night market within walking distance if u r keen.

Went to coral island.... beach wise....better than Tioman.... as beach is long and comes with soft sand and clear sea water.... Tioman beaches are rather short.... coral wise.....Tioman and Rendang better.... snorkeling is better there as Coral island and Phuket too commercialized....and island trip will have lots of Chinese... 900 baht per adult....700 baht child ....all with lunch....speedboat around 15-30 mins

Last night.... went to local Phuket night market..... think only open Sat & Sun..... lots of local food....very nice braised duck and chicken....also lots of stalls selling all kind of stuffs.... but tutu is 1000 baht, half hr trip

From tutu driver....now tourists mainly russian and chinese..... 2 years ago its middle east and Scandinavian....5 years ago mainly Japanese....FYI
