  • Overseas Watch Hunting

I always have a sense that the watch markets are more mature overseas (i.e HK, Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand, UK, Europe for the car boot finds)...

I did remember seeing quite a number of nice vintage seikos, omegas and the like at a good price in HK and Shanghai when I used to visit frequently.... Too bad I wasnt much of a WIS then and never ventured to expand my collection recklessly...

I have been unable to trace these spots in my recent travels... any sweet spots to share?

(I will be travelling to HK shortly and do hope to pick up something nice)

The good news is that our watches will appreciate faster and higher due to more demand from China market....

I am quite happy with my current collection and since I have earned a "price increase" from my current collection, it will make me "feel better" to buy new watch even if prices have gone up... for those who have not bought any watches yet will feel the "pinch" when prices keep going up....

As China grows and her pple getting more affluent, it will definitely bring up prices of ROLEXes.

                India also too

In shanghai, I do mean the antique dealers along tibet road... and scattered about... Loads of fakes but some good buys I reckon...

Whereabouts in Nathan road/middle road in hk? I will need specifics as my trip is pretty rushed and I may have little time to explore...

Read from the watchbus forum that Rolex watch from Japan (parallel import) is rather cheap after the currency conversion and tax rebates. Hope to check there soon.

A few years ago when i was in Bangkok, As I was walking at a backlane in Yaowarat (Bangkok ChinaTown), i came across some vintage rollies. Heard rumours that usually the movements inside the watches are mostly fakes. Have anyone brought any vintage rollies in Bangkok? Best Regards.

had seen quite a few there esp vintage ones.. there's even a red sub with the correct movement but apart from that everything's fake..matt dial with yellowish patina on a 5513 as well.

Anyone knows where to search for vintage rolex or Pams in Helsinki, Stockholm or Paris. Going over to these places soon.
