DIY: - Eye-loupe Pouch

Sometime back I made some eye-loupe pouches.


Let me share with you good folks how it’s done.

You can choose any materials for the exterior, even your old jeans. Just follow these steps.

STEP1
Trace the outline of the eye loupe and cut a template from an artcard (or cardboard)



STEP2
Cut your choice material about 6mm bigger around the template. This is for the sides



STEP3
Measure the width of the eye-loupe.

Now to continue where I left off...

STEP4
Cut the material 6mm wider than the measured width. The length of this strip should be about one and a half times the circumference of the loupe.



STEP5
You may choose to add a thin layer of sponge or just cut the strip from leather.



STEP6
Next, paste another material (example velvet or suede) over the sponge. This will be the inner side of the pouch you’re making.



STEP7 (Optional)
Flip it over and paste a small piece of leather on the edge of this strip.



STEP8
Put some contact glue on the edges of the long strip and oval sides.
Important:
a) Only a thin layer of glue is required. Many novices think that more glue means stronger bond.
b) Wait until the glue is semi-dry; DO NOT paste both sides together when its wet.
(Sorry guys, I forgot to take fotos for this and the next step. Some imagination is required here)


STEP9
Paste one side of the oval cut-out to the long strip. Secure with bulldog clips. Wait 15 minutes or so.
Then do the same for the other side.


STEP10
Saddle stitch the sides.


You may fit your pouch with a stud or a simple shirt button & button-hole after assembling.



So now you know how to make a simple eye-loupe pouch for yourself.
